Hi, I have a Palmer 2nd catalog model L, I'm not sure if you know the cue but it has pearlized rings below the joint (which I think is the A ring) and a B ring also pearlized ring right above the wrap, anyhow the B ring just above the wrap is the tiniest bit loose by that I mean if you try to move it it will move maybe a millimeter. My question is is there anything that I can do to fix this or do I need a professional? I live in Chicago so if I do need professional cue work then 1. Is this a complicated problem or fairly simple for a pro? And or 2. Any recommendations for repair or work in the Chicago area?
Thanks in advance for any ideas or recommendations. Aside from that minor problem with the ring the cue is in perfect condition and it would be a shame to have to refinish it.

Thanks again
Ryan

Hi Ryan,

I would contact Scott at Proficent Billiards, he does great work.

Chris Tate the Palmer Collector sends his cues to Scott, you can't go wrong.

Ryan,

Those Palmers are so cool, you model L is awesome...

I have several Palmers, my two favorites, model H wedge from second catalog and # 2 from the first catalog.

We have to compare these jewels when you get yours tune up.

Regards,

Joe

Ryan, as Joe mentioned, Scot has done a lot of cues for me - and I consider his work to be top notch.

On cues like the "L", the 1st catalog Model 11 and the 3rd catalog Model 20 is the rings were assembled with glue on a tenon in the forearm of the cue, then the cue was turned down. Scot should be able to repair it, hopefully with a minor fix. These rings have a snug fit on the tenon so they usually don't come loose.

If you get it repaired, let us know how it turns out.
