They had new Simonis 860 cloth on the tables, but the alternated red and black on the rails and bed of the tables. I've never seen such a bad application of colors on a table :(

i dont know why but it scares me like a stanley kubrick movie.

All work and no pool makes jack a dull boy.

I really don't get this stuff. When they ruined the equipment at Hollywood Billiards the rationale was the the pool room business is about the bangers and not the players so who cares if you lose the players? That part I understand, party people and clubby types drink more and spend more money and maybe pool players are a little cheap.

But what purpose is served by driving the players away with tables like these or those at Hollywood Billiards? I understand the business you lose as most players aren't going to play on crap like that, but what do you gain? I just can't imagine that the big spending bangers are all texting each other excitedly and all of a sudden wanting to play pool and drink because the tables are some hideous red and not that green or blue they used to be.

What purpose is served here? Do the owners see an advantage to shooing the players out?

Thanks

Kevin

Those colors would really suck to play on.. Obviously the choice was not made by a pool player!

I used to live down the street from a bowling alley that had black cloth like that on their 3 bar tables...but the rails were neon yellow and the balls were black light reflective...They actually tailored their pool tables to fit in with their "glow bowl" theme. Yuck.

(Forgot to mention that the place also had red Master chalk...imagine black cloth and red chalk)

Maybe the "bangers" like it better because there's no longer a bunch of "pool players" around to rob them. lol

I think those are the colors of the university which was providing the tables for the tournament... i'm not from there - but it's the only thing that makes any sort of logical sense. can anyone else confirm?

This wasn't anywhere in Georgia was it. It looks like something a Georgia Bulldog fan would do!

That's the reason... As said this is the Northern Illionois University's colors and that's where this Jr nationals tourny is being held this year.... Still, why do this to a table? I don't care what your colors are. Ivan Lee of simonis spoke at the banqet... I soo wanted to ask him what HE thought of the color application of his cloth.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind the colors ... for a home room - with a table it looks decent on... however, those tables are the wrong style/color for that cloth - and this is in the public. bad choice, i agree.

Embarassing that a national tourney would be played on gimicky-looking equipment. At least they aren't playing on barboxes.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that traditional green or tournament blue are the best cloth colors and are preffered for a reason.

I have never seen a combination of cloth colors on a pool table before and for good reason I see... it is ridiculous.

Ummm I could see (not a fan of the colours on a pool table but) all black cloth or all red cloth, but really red rails and black bed or black rails and a red bed?!? Was the peson puttting the tables together having a bad day and mixed the two up and just didn't want to go back a switch them when they realized what they had done. Not to mention at a tournament I think all the tables should be one colour aka all green or all blue of all fuchsia.

University option

I'm sure their colors are visible in the basketball stadium and probably on their track. Why not the pool room? When its your money, your get to choose. Not saying I'd like playing on it.:grin-square:

I also played in a room that had logos from local businesses printed on the (red) cloth of their 9 footers...Imagine trying to aim a spot shot while simultaneously reading the words, "Elk Street Body Piercing".

Incidentally, that room is now closed, because no one wanted to play on those godawful mockeries of pool tables.

If anyone had half a brain, they would have put the school name and logo on the side of the table. Maybe even on the lights as well. HELLO!!!
