I don't know if there have been any takers or not, but it's easy money...come on out and get it ;)

Seriously, he plays really good, it's not an idle challenge.

Cheers,

In all fairness his call out had several stipulations, age, west of here or there, he chooses which game. A call out is a call out, step up, play even, bet money.

Max Eberle would qualify for the challenge. Would probably be pretty close.

Anyone have an opinion on who gets the cash if T-Rex matches up with Mad Max?

That's a hard call between Max and Tony. Max Eberle is originally from the D.C. area, and I always like to root for the home team, but he moved to California to pursue his dreams. He is a very talented artist as well as being a first-class player.

If I was inclined to bet on one or the other, I'd place my dough on Tony Chohan in a game of stakes. :p

Tony plays really strong, one pocket is his strongest game. I have never really heard of Max playing one pocket for significant stakes. I believe that Tony is the best one pocket player for the cash in Northern California, that includes Billy Palmer. Billy I think is probobly a better tournament player but for the cash I would bet on Tony for sure. T-rex and his cousin Amar are top notch players and I think if they lived on the East Coast they would be much more well known.

I found it funny when i read this

Danny Bassivach (sp?) posted a call out, he is calling anyone for 50k at the forge.
Cohan posted a "call out" to anyone west of here" north of here must be born in the month of may, must be younger then this....this shows he doesn't want to play some folk...

Not knocking TRex's game at all i wish i could play 1/10 the speed of that fella, im just saying i dont like how he posted his call out. Yes im not in close rang eto what was posted in the topic i did rate on his game.... does that count folks? Anyways

The thing is he put the one pocket and nineball in there. I think he is the best in California in both games, thats what the both games thing tells me. Oh I mean besides Jose. :)

What about Tang Hoa? He play's strong one hole and 9 ball.

Also, the challange would be at T-rex's house in Sacramento which is a major advantage. I heard that he owns that table up there and that he'll sit you down for many games at a time playin 9 ball.

I don't think there is any way that Tony would play Max even in 9-ball for the big bucks. I am sure Max would be all over that one, he may even be willing to give Tony the last two. Tang Hoa would probably quit playing cards if he could get an even game for the big bucks from Tony. I can beat Max in one-pocket so it would be no contest for Tony to beat him. Dave Hemmah would be a tough challenge for Tony in 9 ball also. If Raphael is still alive he would probably welcome the 9 ball challenge. Morro Paez might like the game.
Ernesto just beat him for the cash gambling in 9 ball a few weeks ago and Tony didn't want anymore of him from what I heard. I heard Santos is moving back to California and he would be favored in 9 ball also.

In one-pocket only Parica would be favored in California and Billy Palmer would be even money, Tang Hoa, Rich Grenier, Santos and a few others might be even money also.

You would probably lose your money, Max is a better 9 ball player than Tony.

danny, tony

I played some low money sets with amar his cousin, plays a close second to tony. I would still have to give it to max in 9 ball. The thing is sounds like tony will switch it up, if he feels he cant beat you in 9 ball, he will probably just bet one pocket or vice versa. When there is money on the line tony does play jam up. As for as danny Basavich's call out, he is playing great right now, but against anyone for 50K? There is a handfull of people I can think if on the top of my head that it would hard for danny to beat, but then again I have also heard that danny has not lost for the money in over a decade.

LOL, Wayne. It won't be the first time I've lost my money in a game of stakes. :p

Having said that, from my observations on the East Coast, I based my view on what I have read about in various pool print media about both players. I have had the opportunity to see Tony up front and close on several occasions, and his cousin "Omar," as I like to call him. :D

One-pocket is definitetly Tony's best game. I have been reading about quite a few tournaments out there in California that Tony Chohan has won or finished up in the semi-finals in which 9-ball was played, too. For the CASH in a game of high stakes, I definitely would pick Tony over Max Eberle, not taking anything away from Max's game.

There's quite a difference between matching up in a tournament playing a short race in 9-ball than "gambling." It is a completely different type of pressure, and Tony's got no fear and will step up to the plate. Max Eberle may be a world-class 9-ball player, but if he posted up 50 dimes, I see Tony giving a better performance on a field of green than Max.

Although Max was "invited" to compete in Korea and will most likely be "selected" to compete at the upcoming BCA Open in May because of his affiliation with the current powers-that-be in the men's organization, he will continue to be a topnotch player in the eyes of many.

Tony Chohan is still a young fellow, and I don't think we've seen Tony's best game yet. And for my cash, I'd bet on Tony Chohan over Max Eberle in ANY game at this juncture.

As always, JMHO, FWIW! You've come a long way, Tony! :D Below, a picture I snapped the first time I met Tony Chohan from California a few U.S. Opens ago!

rumor has it there is a t-rex sighting in south dakota?

I hope Tony Chohan is on his way to the Super Billiards Expo in Valley Forge next week, March 17-20. If you see him, tell him that's the place to be! AND he may get played! :)
