How many cues do you carry around?

I do something similar to this. All my cues are radial pins and the shafts are interchangeable. The ring work is the same on all my shafts.

The butts that I own are ALL very different from one another in terms of balance point. They also differ in wrap vs wrapless as my hands tend to sweat and my grip slips in very hot conditions.

I can not control the air condition going out at the pool room. I can not control the room owner changing the cloth to mudd cloth vs. 760 simonis cloth. I can not control if the tournament uses brunswick or diamond tables. I can not control tight pockets vs. sloppy.

I have been desperately trying to narrow my equipment down to one cue! But, i notice that one cue set up works better for one set of conditions and another set up works better for a completely opposite set of conditions. For me, this is the case! If only pool had standardized the equipment and materials??? You are always guessing about fast cloth, short banking rubber cushions, pocket facings, pocket shelfs, Ball composition, table lights. & etc. I would love a little consistency! But, It won't happen in my life time. Pretty hard to compete at the local pool room and major tournaments with them having polar opposite playing conditions!

What ya're doing sounds like Jose Parica, he's known to change different cues in the middle the game, heard that he has many top cuemakers's cue like southwest, diviney or gina.

What you doing makes sense in terms of choosing your cue that is most suitable for the table conditions itself, but here's the problem , you can't possibly practice with every cue can you ??

What i do is use the same shaft every time irregardless of my butt so i'm kinda used to how my shaft plays.
My butt is just dependent on the design i feel like using on the day itself lol.

Just my 2 cents :)

i do use one shaft "exclusively". That shaft is my best one and the go to shaft. We are doing the same thing.

Additionally, I forgot to mention they are all made by the same cue maker and all have the same taper, weight, & specs for the butt. The big difference is regarding the balance point. One has the weight in the handle area via a heavy piece of cocobolo, One has weight in the forearm and butt via nice pieces of bocote and a lite maple handle, One has weight uniform in forearm, handle & butt via all ebony, One has weight in handle and butt with weight tapered in forearm via points mad e of cocobolo and coco handle and butt. These are all different set ups versus the standard maple handle common on every cue with a wrap covering it. I found a maker with the specs I liked and then tried different weight and balance set ups. The taper and dimensions are ALL the same, just balanced differently. Click the link for pictures of the cues.

I always carry a 3x6 with my player with 2 maple shafts and my OB shaft. Plus my break/jump and another butt that is lighter then my break/jump. A meucci shaft that works on both my break butts, haven't used it in years. The pockets are filled with sandpaper, shaper, tip pick, chalk, towel, pen, small notepad, ear plugs, spare tips, cough drops, advil, and probably even more stuff I've forgotten about. I try to be prepared lol.

i use a 4x8 sterling wave black case
usually i only have my player a nitti and 2 ob1 shafts
and my alex brick jump break cue
in the pouches are a willard and last 4 ever tip shaper
a few q wiz for cleaning
several pennies since i like to play one pocket and you always need coins if you owe one
in the big pouch
powder/justabridge/3 cubes of masters chalk
pen and several shot pads that have all my notes from over the years

since i own more than one cue
i will sometimes add another cue and the appropriate shafts if i want to play with something different
my nitti has a radial pin
i will say if i change butts and use the same shafts the cues play very similar
especially if the size/weight/balance/ of the butt is close to the nittti

3x6 case.
8 point Predator sneaky pete butt. (uniloc)
2 identical 314 cat shafts (uniloc)
1 31" jacoby hybrid (uniloc)
1 Predator Z shaft (uniloc)
1 4 point Predator sneaky pete butt (uniloc) Break cue butt
1 Lucasi uniloc maple shaft as my break cue shaft with normal tip (don't need anymore power)
1 jacoby 3 piece jump cue

I interchange all the time to what feels good. I have been known to change shafts during a match. Some days one feels better than another but my primary shaft that I like is the 314 cat. I have 314-2 at home along with an Tiger X shaft (all uniloc) which I pracitice with an will exchange for one of the shafts in my case. BTW - I play pretty well with my lucasi maple shaft that I break with. Maybe I am so bad that the shaft of choice seems to make no difference. LOL

For playing league, I stay with 2 cues. Jerry Olivier Sneaky Pete and Mike Gulyassy Sledgehammer in a 2x4 It's George case.

At home I have additional cues which I collected over the years. I bring those out in either my 3x6 Jack Justis lite or Jim Murnak butterfly case.

I have a 4x4 case, and its full.

My player, my jump/break, a cue j got from someone here that I used while my player was being fixed, and a cheaply cue that I used when I started, which carry to use for a bridge.

(One of the rooms I play in has 17 tables, but it seems like they only have 4-5 bridges in the place. I got to setting my own up, and as it is a black cue, its obvious that it isn't a house bridge so folks don't just come and grab it. Of course I share it if someone needs it, but this way it doesn't go away and stay away.)

I don't need to carry the one that I used while mine was getting fixed, but there is space in the case so why not?

3x5 case

Two Joss cues, which I alternate between depending on my mood or weight preference at the time. 4 Shafts that will fit either Joss - SS360 12.5mm talisman medium (my main playing shaft), two stock Joss shafts (One with a 13mm talisman prototype hard, one with a 13.25mm lepro, which came with the second Joss I bought. I never use it), and an aftermarket shaft, unsure of brand, 13mm with a Moori IV hard. The other cue is my break cue and shaft.

the same as most players... TOO MUCH!

I have a 2x4 Ron Thomas.. I carry a Main Player Cue w/2 shafts, and most the time my J/B combo (single shaft). But to be honest I also utilize the open spot of my wife's 2x2 case for any other "Back up" playing cue, that I will most likely not utilize that night.

a JB 2x5/3x4 is defiantly in my future.

as for the "Stuff" goes.. I posted a picture in this thread.

i have a 1x2 lizard wrapped case for my player and backup and that's good enough i break with a house cue in the pool hall, in tournaments if there's no house cue i break with my player it works for me.

How many cues do you carry around and why? I was recently evaluating what comes with me when I play and I got to wondering just why it is that I would carry what I carry. I have a great custom case that I got from Gil Castillo a couple of years ago but I really can't justify all the room. I mean really, why would anyone need to carry around four cues and two shafts for each? So I pared back a bit. I went to a 2 X 3 (Ultimate Rugged), for my player, a shaft and the back up, and my breaker, a few cubes of chalk, a shaper, a piece of leather, a tip tool (Shark Pup), my bridge device, a pen, a small towel, and some loose change. At times that almost seems like more than I really need. I know guys and girls that carry their 4X8 and keep it full all the time and they might strap another shaft to their case.
So, how many cues and how much stuff do you carry around and why?

I carry a JB Mason model case and inside I carry 2x2 to 3x4.

I usually try to keep a pick-type device inside for the tip, a leather burnisher, powder, a glove and some chalk at the minimum. Sometimes I put a bag of tips inside. I also carry some order sheets for our cases and some business cards.

I'm wondering how you guys all fit players in your cue cases.

Do you squish him in there and then he jumps out when you open the case?

As for me, I couldn't imagine putting a player in my cue case but I do have a playing cue, a break cue and a jump cue in mine.
