How much do I need?

Working on finishing the basement. I want a pool table down there, but I have to work around a few poles. Any suggestions? I cut up some 2X4's and just measured for a 7 footer to diagram with so I would see what I'm working with. How much feet from the table to the wall? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

figure 5 feet all the way around, If you have a table that is 3.5x7 you need 13.5x17.

Add an absolute minimum of 10 feet to the playing surface dimensions (L and W) if you play with a 57" or 58" cue.

Add at least another 0.5' if you play with a slightly longer cue.

Why bother finishing the basement at all? I just slapped some rustoleum epoxyshield on the floor, some UGL drylock on the walls, then finished the walls off with a rich purple paint which my wife selected. Looks great. I even kept the 2 X 10 ceiling exposed. I've got a 4.5 X 9' diamond pro table right next to a valley bar box. It's hog heaven. And cheap too. Why waste the money? I play to retire early.

Oh yeah, I've got 4 poles as well. No problem, even though a couple do effect certain shots (though they come up much less than you would expect and no one complains - and I host up to 8 players at one time down there). PM me and I can supply pics.

Cheers and good luck.
