how to hit this drill shot?

doing a billiard around the world drill
one goes in the side, cb must contact the two
you can move the cb slightly to start-
which should be easier, following two rails, or drawing into the deuce?

The cue has to hit the third diamond up from the corner on the long rail in order to go three rails to hit the two ball
From where you have the Q ball I don’t have the angle to get there and the Q ball always go a little long of the two
if I could move the Q ball over a little to have a little flatter angle on the one ball the two ball is a big ball to hit three cushions
The straight draw takes practice
Which is easier depends on your skill level
If you can move the cue ball alittle
I think the 3 railer is easier to execute
Especially given the distance of cue ball to object ball and the distance to 2 ball

Your results may vary

Why not one rail?
fair question. I've been keeping the cb close to where you see it, on the opposite half of the table as the balls
but if the cb was closer to the side pocket, I could see the one rail option..I'll add that to my practice, thanks
do you have an opinion about following or drawing as the balls currently lie?

I like both the draw and the 2-rail. The draw is probably easier for me.

From the ball positions shown I think that steep a draw angle might be impossible. Here's a diagram showing the 2:1 draw angle that I understand to be the best possible result (of course, a different CB position/angle could make it possible):

Here's a diagram of the same layout showing the "parallel to midpoint line" 2-rail method Dr. Dave just posted about. It looks like the natural rolling carom angle (shown) goes shallower into the first rail (as needed for these shots), making the shot almost automatic with natural roll...?

patrick
as always i love your diagrams and explanations
you have taught me alot over the years
thank you
but
using the corner 5 billiard system
diagramed below
the cue ball is coming from 6 and hitting 2 (not exactly but ok for this discussion)
based on the formula ...6-2=4 which is the side pocket
far from the 2 ball
even if you factor in a rolling cue ball it still should miss the 2 to my eye and math
thats why above i said if you move the cue ball alittle so the cue ball is coming from 5 and hitting 3 it will hit the 2 smack in the face 🙂

not to hijack the thread from the op but at that angle
i dont think i could hold the rebound off the long rail to hit the 2

I did say you could move the cb slightly to start, but as is, I agree hard to hit
I'm pretty sure I could draw into it tho, maybe easier for me as you mentioned
but if I had all those fancy diagrams in my head, I'd like going that way ^_^

I might have misdrawn that, but I think the hit is pretty easy. Have to try it tomorrow.

Now draw the same shot but put shoot the 1 into the bottom horn of the side pocket. Also hit the shot with just enough draw to engage the roll back. Think a slightly over done kill shot. This will prevent the CB from sliding much if any after contact. If you good and the table is fast, you may just even be able to draw to the diamond between the opposite side and 2 ball.

i see .. onepocket.org use to have a table diagram program?
