Scratch-octo-phasia is a variant of scratch-phasia that targets aggressive and great play without a finish. Octo derives from the consistency of failure at key moments.

Traditional scratch-phasia is commonplace for players that score 25 or less on the ASVAB. Scratch-phasia is a disease specific to pool players.

Popular treatments for scratch-phasia is the Pool Players guide to meeting minimum standards on the ASVAB.

In our league, which is Valley, you've got 6 through 10. 6's are beginners and 10's are the very best so (very few of those)
, an 8+ would be a reasonably good shooter.

Winner winner, chicken dinner !!

The medical term for excessive scratching is excoriation1. It refers to a linear break in the skin surface, usually covered with blood or serous crusts1. Another condition that causes scratches on the skin is dermographism or dermatographic urticaria, which affects about 5 percent of people and is more common in older children and younger adults1.
If you are experiencing excessive scratching, it’s important to consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

OK . . . not gonna lie to you, I had to look up what ASVAB stood for. This is what came back. Is this what you're referring to??
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, or ASVAB, tests your knowledge of basic concepts and skills to date, and it determines what branch and rank in the military you are eligible for.

Yes that test covers basic math and physics which can be learned quickly and easily from one visit to the poolroom laboratory and proper review book.

You are correct. I am referring to that test. A few questions can mean the difference between the job with the perks you want.

I write math questions often. Writing them to support pool and the ASVAB was my angle.

ADSD - attention deficit scratching disorder.

ShortBusRuss above was right, the only way a good shooter scratches more often than they should is if they don't pay attention as often as they should.

As a tip of the hat to him, you can name the disease ShortBusScratchitis cuz really, a good player feels like they should be riding the short bus after some of those brainfart scratches.

"Another ShortBus Scratch for Jimmy. Poor guy. Got that ShortBusScratchitis, he does."

OK, Kids, I need a $20.00 medical term (that’s big, nearly unpronounceable and unrecognizable) that would describe the condition of someone who scratches WAY more then they should for being a level 8+ player. This fellow is a pretty darn good shot but seems to have a demon that makes him scratch unpredictably and often. It’s really funny and I want to ’name’ his condition for him. LOL !! Thanks for whatever you come up with.
Scratchitis.

You know what cures it?

Take his name and add "itis" to it. I have made a few like this at my local place, I have a name for when someone F ups a simple run out, a name for when someone for some reason picks the hardest and least likely to win the game shot with ball in hand or to shoot first, even have one for when you scratch twice on the same shot, another one for the cueball flying off the table, etc... Everyone gets a shot named after them LOL One guy I call the "Best Worst" player because he had one league session without a single match win.

That is a very odd thing to bring up LOL, maybe SATs or MCAS would have at least been known.

When I went into the Army, I scored a 99 on the test, which they say is maxed out since there is no 100, they score based on the relative scores of others, so a 99 means you scored higher than 99% of the other people taking the test. Here is the funny part, even though I maxed out the score, they would offer me only a very limited choice of specialties since I had a GED (due to ignoring my gym requirements due to skipping a bunch of days) not a diploma. It was a pretty interesting situation, the guy I was talking said that this never happened before that he could remember.
