Curious as to what you Playing Cue Weigh Out. I find most of the EXPERTS can not agree on what is the Perfect Cue Weight. I personally have a couple of Cue weighing between 18.5 Ounces, and 19.5 Ounces, and recently have gone back to playing mostly with a Cue I got from a Buddy Pre Owned. it Weighs just 18.5 to 18.5 Ounces, and i seem to have more Cue Ball control with this lighter Stick.

One of other Guy who play al ot where I live has a Cue made by a Local PHX Cuebuilder “JAZZ”, that sucker weight almost 23 Ounces, but he play best with that Heavy Monster.

Think BCA's Max Weight is 25 Ounces... ;)

Cue Weight

Current Cue Weight: 19.75 - 20.0oz

New cue coming: 19.0 - 19.5 oz.

The reason most "experts" can't agree on the perfect cue weight is probably because there is no such thing. The perfect weight for me may not be the perfect weight for you. That's why they come in different weights. It all comes down to the individual.

I did submit a question to Marilyn Von Savant (in Parade mag in Sunday
paper) about the best weight of a cue for breaking the balls. I thought
with her IQ, she might be able to enlighten us.

There is no best cue weight for breaking the balls. It has to do with the person behind it based on their strength levels, entire body coordination, tempo, timing, speed generation capabilities, slow twitch/fast twitch muscles.

Just using the formula which point to a lighter cue for speed generation is totally false and bogus. On paper it works, but not necessarily in real life.

I have a question for you or anyone else. At what point do you think a cue can get TOO LIGHT for breaking effectively. According to the theorists with the lighter is better scenario....then a twelve oz. cue should be great. Bullshit!

I have always preferred cues on the heavy side a little. I played with a
21 oz for more years than I can remember. I now play with a cue that is
20.2 oz, and it feels right to me. As for Breaking, a 17 oz just feels too
light. I like about the same weight to break with as my playing cue.
I watched Chavis (sp.) play in Vegas, god almighty, he had this breaking
cue that was metal, looked like a club, and weighed in at 25-26 oz..
If I had played him the tournament (BCA), I think I would have challenged
the weight of his break cue.

I don't think EXPERTS have ever thought there was a need to agree on this. What the EXPERTS do agree on is that weight is a personal preference.

Bruce, Just wondering....

Does Jazz still look like he just came down off 'ol rocky top?

ZZ top beard and overalls?

Used to be a signature appearance for him :)

I think my current cue has gotta be less than 17...it was 19 when I got it...but I replaced the graphite shaft it came with with a predator...the old shaft was really heavy. took some getting used to, but it works fine

Between 19.5 and 20.
My Viattorre weighs in at 19.7 but I think the balance point has more to do than the weight. It feels lighter because it is balanced so well.
