Who has actually seen the lessons of Chavez? How long are they individually and do you consider them top quality in content? Would you recommend all or specific ones?
I'm just wondering how throughly the grip, or stance or whatever is presented where the average to good Player can pick up useful information.
I know the Man is a great player but I'm just asking for information on his Videos, I am not dissing him at all. Thanks for your help.

I have seen all 4 of them and I must say they are really informative. I used some of his moves in games and they helped me go further in my local bar box tournament than I ever have gone before. It was worth it for me and you get to see them for 30 days which is more than enough time. I have seen him play before and he can get the cash with the best of them his safety play is sofocating. He reminds of a boxer that hits and holds hits and hold next thing you know your knocked out. You can learn something from any professional that shows you something or that you play against. I played Johnny Archer a couple of times and what I learned from him was not just to jump and hit a ball but jump and make the ball and this has been my goal now. Beside that Borana Andoni is the BOMB to look at!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im really glad that you like them Chi2dxa. I have been trying to tell people that this is for their own benefit but somehow in the pool world people think that the videos are just to make money. People pay the mexican 200$ per lesson to learn this.

I watched the first two. Some interesting and useful knowledge, however you cannot compare getting a lesson and watching someone else getting a lesson. Two very different things. See, he wasnt teaching the viewer (like most instructional videos), he was teaching Borana.

Is it worth $40 for 4 lessons??? Sure, why not? Would you get more for your money with a $200 personal lesson... I think so. But honestly, he seems like a much better player than teacher.

I went to the site and tried to watch the Barouty video.

I get all the way through the process of buying the feed and suddenly I am redirected to this website:

http://www.secretservice.gov/financial_crimes.shtml

WTF!!!!! Anyone have a clue what this nonsense is about?

FWIW I can't access the site directly for whatever reason - either China doesn't like the server that Goforpool is on or the web host does not like traffic from China. So I access it through my website's proxy server.

Seems really silly to ASSUME that anytime the OS Commerce software doesn't like the way things are going then it must be a cybercriminal on the other end.

Any help from the Go For Pool folks????

John

I got more out of it than I thought I would.

I was behind the camera and I decided to try some of the things that he was teaching Borana. I'm not sure that someone has to look into your eyes to tell you something. If that was the only key, everyone who takes lessons would be tremendously better than everyone else, and that is definitely not true.

Since I have been trying Chavez's techniques, I can make straight shots much more easily, which I always had trouble with and I am on my way to playing a much better game. It will take some time, but that is understandable.

Of course, if you don't process information well, it doesn't matter how you get it. Some of the drills, like billiard single really help your safing and you really don't know why your safes seem to work better after you do it.

I also know that taking lessons doesn't guarantee anything, especially if it is not right for you. But, for myself, I always wondered how he was able to make so many shots with such ease. That is why I tried his techniques.

I don't know John

I'm not sure what happened. Why didn't you ask the people at go4pool.com? Are you doing any criminal activity these days? Where are you?

I'll look into it or you can try it again. Maybe if you are in China, it is coming from your side. Maybe the Chinese govt. is trying to suppress your knowledge of pool.

LOL - I did send something through the online form.

There are three reasons I can't get to websites from inside China.

1. The chinese have blocked a server's IP address. So if a server hosts 100 websites and for some reason one of them is blocked by the Chinese firewall then it's likely that they block the whole IP address of the webserver.

2. I try to view content that is banned. Like anything related to Falun Gong.

3. The computer I am trying to connect to doesn't accept connections from Chinese IP addresses. This happens because Chinese hackers are notorious for hammering on webservers with viruses and trojans trying to infect them.

All well and good - I accept this annoyance as part of living here and have a proxy server set up to view whatever I want anyway. A proxy server is where I surf the internet through a computer located in the USA and thus bypass China's issues and web hosting company's issues.

What freaked me out was the shocking and abrupt redirect to the cybercrime page. I am not 100% sure but this doesn't seem to me to be something that PayPal would do or Authorize.net as I have used both of them extensively over the last ten years. Which leaves me wondering if it's something to do with OS Commerce. In any event it pissed me off as I felt like I being accused of being a criminal while trying to purchase a $4 video. Seems like an "oops, we had a problem with your order" message might be more appropriate.

As to why I asked here - this is where I live in cyber land and I figure that generally someone in the AZ community will know the answer.

Well anyway - I can pay pal you $4 if you can give me a link to the video. :-)

Jim, I certainly wasn't attacking, just stating my opinion as a customer. Im not saying you need eye contact in a lesson, but we all play different and we all do different bad things. It has nothing to do with processing information, I do that pretty well. All I was saying is comparing a $200 personal lesson to a video recorded personal lesson with someone else... its apples and oranges.

As I said, he had a lot of good things to say, I got some of it and was worth the price, but for me, it would be better for him to instruct the viewers, not a student. Just constructive criticism.
