Great idea!I always do 1.5X the length of the tenon. Also do a larger diameter in the shaft vs the diameter of the actual tenon.

Any time you create this type insert/tenon, the face between the ferrule and wood is the fulcrum. Having the wood inside the shaft the same size as the wood inside of the ferrule creates a point of failure, imo.What is the reasoning behind this?
