I live just a bit north of the DFW airport, and would like to take some instruction. I'm sorta stuck at a plateau and I need some new eyes to help me improve.

Any suggested instructors in the area?

Can't go wrong

Randy has helped me shot better than i ever thought i could. Must visit him. You'll be amazed.

Randy Goettlicher is great guy, have shot against him and his legends team out in vnea int'l championships several times.

Randy is the best instructor in the country! Call him...he'll give you what you need and what you want. 214-908-2908

I sincerely hope that you don't take this any other way than the way I intend it. I am genuinely curious is all.

Has Randy developed the talent of a known world class player? Is there a world class player that someone in your pool family has developed that I can look at for an example of the system you teach and how it can be used at a high level?

Satori,

Have you ever heard of Butch Harmon? Which major golf tournaments did he win? There are some great instructors who never had a major playing career. They just know how to teach and guide better than anyone else. Spotting a flaw in a players technique and curing that flaw is an art few possess.

I recently went though Pool School with Randy Goettlicher here in Dallas after resisting it for like 15 years...

Believe me it is well worth the time and money...

Randy and I talked about that same subject over breakfast last week -

I assured Randy - that just like him - I am only dedicated to developing players that virtually come from out of nowhere - guiding them directly to the threshold of banger status - and then releasing them back into the wild.

Most of the better known instructors have worked with many players of all levels - to include the champions. This includes Randy. The accomplishments of the champions are the result of their hard work and dedication - a touch of guidance - guidance that sometimes includes a good swift kick in the pants.

Personally, I have worked with many players for brief periods - assisted them with a particular area of their game - and then continued communication/friendship with the player. That does not give me the right (5-10 years after the fact) to claim to be or have been someone's coach/instructor. It just means that I have worked with that particular player on different areas of their game. Most of the players I work with at that level - get my advice and coaching with a promise of confidentiality.

I am pretty sure that just like most other things that I do ... adopted that policy from Randy...

I believe you misinterpreted his post. He is asking if Randy has ever trained someone who is a world class player. The post didn't have anything to do with Randy's playing ability.

I've taken lessons from both Bert Kinister and Randy G. Both have been very valuable. They structure their lessons differently.

Bert has a great subscription video service on his web page, and he gives private lessons as well. The videos may look old, but it's the best material for intermediate to advanced players, that I've seen. For private lessons he charges $80 an hour but he's generous about the clock. He will do lessons at the students home or a pool hall. He also has a 9ft GC at his home in Plano. I've been meeting him weekly at my house for nine months and have gotten a lot out of it.

Randy's web page does say he will do private lessons, but when I first spoke with him a few years ago he seemed to prefer his standard group lesson classes. 2-4 students seems typical and he does them as all day sessions. His intro class is 3 days and his advanced class is 2 days. I've taken both. The intro class mainly focuses on fundamentals (stance, where to hold the cue, pendulum stroke, eye patterns, pre shot routine, ...) It also covers speed control. There is practically no coverage of ball pocketing and pattern play. His advanced class covers banking, kicking, breaking, jumping, and aiming systems. Randy used to have a dedicated facility in Richardson, but that closed a few years ago. When I took his advanced class 18 months ago he did the class from the AMF bowling alley around 75/Campbell.

For me a great combination has been to take both of Randy's classes to get my fundamentals in order, then take weekly lessons from Bert to continuously fine tune my progress. BTW, Bert does cover fundamentals as well and we spent time in our early sessions on it.

PM me if you'd like talk about more details.

CJ Wiley lives in Ft. Worth and does private lessons also. I have not had lessons with him but I've met him several times and he went out of his way to discuss his techniques.

As stated above, Randy is a great instructor. Bert is another person in the area that is a great instructor.

Tony Sulsar is another guy that is highly recommended, CJ and Jeremy Jones give lessons as well.

Decisions, decisions. I'll have to think about it for a bit.

I'm not really looking for a school experience. I want someone to watch me and tell me what the hell is wrong with my stroke and routine.

I could use help pocketing balls, too, as always, but I'm assuming my trouble there are due to whatever is messing my stroke up.
