Some thoughts,

I used to put things up for sale here and have no problem selling them in a few minutes to a few days at the extreme out side. Now I could offer a hundred dollar bill for $62.50 shipped and insured and Still end up putting it on eBay. Now some Jackass says' I'll Buy It', and is never to be heard from again.
The trick used to be to try to keep your listing on the front page or it would be on the third page in two hours and no one would see it until you noticed how many pages back it had gotten and gave it a BUMP. Now...Well now, it just aint the same.

I used to post pics of some nice cues in the gallery and they would be gone to the next page in a matter of hours or maybe sometimes a whole day. The last post I posted in the gallery was seven days ago and as of now it's still in the center of the fist page.

Chris Tate. Chris Tate was banned from the remains of this sight! W.T.F.?? He was the best thing this sight ever had as an Allie or an asset! Yes I know, among several other fantastic personalities. Many of the more interesting people (thankfully not all) have moved on or just don't participate as often or have been banned from what seems to be a slowly sinking ship. I assume they were not interested in returning. It was kind of like the wild west here at times, but now it's more like the tamed ass beaten down remains of California with a rule for everything and everyone ruled. I found myself kind of bored wandering around the place lately and, well, 'IT JUST AINT THE SAME'

Wanted; Carbon fiber shaft cheap. A good one though, I hate cheap shafts.
For Sale; A really nice cue made by xyz that has been flipped six times and $$$ added each time RARE OFFERING!
Ask the cue maker: Will wax ruin the finish on my butt? Is an Ld shaft going to make me play like a Pro? What tip is magic?
Things just aint the same.

If you made it this far, Get a life, Have a great day, And party on!

Many years ago (mid 1990s), I was playing poker at the Mirage. I made a quick trip to the bathroom, and there was a guy in there trying to sell a $100 bill for $20. Seriously. :ROFLMAO:

Most people are feeling the effects of the last few years of runaway spending with nothing to show for it.. Most are still spending money they don't have and never will, but it's on big things, new house, new car, new boat new boobs , tummy tuck , you know , needful things.

Well it maybe a little boring here right now but most of us are glad you have stuck around.
The ebbs and flows of AZ are strong and at times we get a flash of the wild west now and then.
Hang in there jayman.

Cuebuddy>>>misses Tate too.

onepocket.org is getting that way too, lot of people moved to Facebook apparently. That marketplace is kinda scary though.

I'm not a FB fan, but the marketplace is far superior to what remains of Craigslist. Many years ago, you could sell something on Craigslist. Now, it's a wasteland of scammers, who apparently think everyone is an idiot.

Many folks have either lost interest in buying/selling, aged out/deceased, gone to different selling/buying platforms or don't price their items to sell (thinking it's like years past) but whatever it is your observation(s) are spot on and have not gone unnoticed by the folks that have been on here for a long time.

There are over 1 billion FB Billiard sales groups. :) But a lot of the people are the buyers/sellers that were here. There are a load of scammers taking pics, creating fake accounts, not for the novice for sure. There are razzes if that is your game...
Just another outlet...

I've heard plenty of horror stories about the FB group, ebay is just as bad. Had a cue i paid for get refunded due to "item damaged or no longer available" and immediately resold to a higher offer. There's very little honor left in a world of avatars, and people really just get shadier day by day.

Many cue buyers have aged out - I’m one of them - it is a rare buy for me these days / money aside- you just start to think - do I really want to leave all these cues to my kids- not fair to them either - why burden them?
As for online selling - true story - last week I sold one piece of Kamui Roku chalk on eBay- unused - best price on eBay with a free chalk case and the buyer tried to claim that is was fake - who needs a problem for $24? What a headache-just not worth it anymore.

I watched a video where Steve Wozniak said::

"AI could be used for wonderful purposes--like helping you to find something you want but can't find,
but is far more likely to be used to nefarious purposes--like helping the scammers penetrate you spam filter."

OP post was just another "sign of the times" sigh......

It has been a boring here of late. As jayman described, Most of these threads circle back to the same thing.
The problem I find today, is people want something for nothing.
Or you sell a cue, with full Disclosure. And thay get it, and still complaining it's not as described. All so thay can try and get more money off. As most of the time, thay have no intention of sending it back. Everything is about money these days. Respect and honesty goes out the window.

I don't even bother looking on the for sale forum. I'm not a collector and stuff is too expensive. I'd rather buy it new or find it at a pawn shop. There are a lot of good folks on here, but why bother buying from someone for market price with no protection. At least Ebay or Amazon I can get my money back if it's a scam. It's too much of a PITA for a buyer, I can do buy it now on ebay or amazon and have it in a few days, my bank's already linked to them and I can do it with the touch of a button.

I sold a couple Schragers on FakeBook with no issues and one on eBay for $300 more than I had it listed on FakeBook. Still ways to sell out there, just have to wade through the 4.5 million scammers, fake profile idiots out there!!

Most players under 40 could care less about vintage cues. That and most cues are locked up in collections.

Used to find nice things at reasonable prices. Now everyone wants the world for their stuff.

I think the cue market is about to crash.

I agree with you. More than a decade ago, I put up a couple dozen pictures of nice cues. Joss, Scruggs, and others. Sometime after that time, well known member Tikler, the owner of one of the best collections ever, asked the question, what has happened to the cue and case gallery?

He was right. It wasn't the same. Nobody was posting cues several years ago. And it hasn't changed. I'm not sure what went wrong, but the feeling's gone, and we just can't get it back. Sorry, had to also do a little RIP to Gordon Lightfoot.

But yes, nobody wants to put cues up anymore, or post on existing threads. I did a historical cue thread. There are also Joss Cue and Palmer Cue threads. It seems like nobody has interest anymore.
