David Bray of Virginia Beach posted in this Main Forum on October 30th the following about tables used at the 2003 U.S. Open:
"Tomorrow will be the last day that we will offer the tables from the U.S. Open. The Diamond Smart Tables (rosewood finish only) are available for $4500.00 and the Diamond Pro Tables are also available (oak finish only) for $3675.00. These are some great deals for these tables and this offer will expire tomorrow. Also still up for sale is the Sardo Tight Racks and Aramith TV balls, both on sale for $125.00. Anyone interested or if you have questions call David Bray at Q-Master Billiards, (757) 499-8900."
The eBay auction description is:
"This is a mint condition 9'Brunswick Gold Crown 4 with a Diamond Pro light. It was used at the US OPEN by the top players in the world for about 5 days and was then purchaced by my friend (WHO DOESN'T PLAY POOL)as a piece of show furniture. It comes with a set of practically new Brunswick Centennial balls and top grade Simonis cloth. If you buy this (SET) new in the store the table will cost you $6800 the light will cost $1100 and the balls are about $225 and the Simonis cloth is another $225 for a total of $8,350.00. I will deliver this table within 100 miles of the philly area or you can come pick it up yourself. YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER DEAL ON THIS SET ON THIS PLANET. This is top of the line pro equiptment and I'm practically giving it away. THANKS FOR LOOKING."
If the Open used Diamond tables, which U.S. Open did the Brunswick table come from? Plus, no pro in an Open plays with Brunswick Centennial balls.
The table light could have been used at the Open, though.
Still, all in all, it is a GREAT DEAL, especially the free delivery, Diamond table light, and Simonis cloth. Just the authenticity of the table's origin comes to question in my mind.
