JA calls out American players

This is JA 's FB post

I was sitting here at Turning Stone and looking over the players that are here and there are a few top American players that are not here. It is the first tournament that is on the 2016 Mosconi Cup list. As an American player I really want to try to get on the Mosconi team so I have to make sacrifices and get to as many points tournaments as I can. I guess some other players don't share the same passion that I do about the Mosconi Cup or they would be here also. Just my opinion.

If JA is truley dedicated to getting on the team I believe he will make it

Johnny Archer is and always will be one of my favorite pool players and I hope he earns his way back on the Mosconi Cup team.

Everyone always mentions how great Earl and Efren are but Johnny at his best was almost unbeatable...Nick Varner as well.

It will be interesting to see a player of a certain age try to be at the top of a very competitive rotation pool schedule. The competition from the young guys will be immense. Good luck Johnny, would love to see him work his way to the top.

Johnny A. has a family and business to take care of. If he earns the points I'd like to see him on the team...but not as captain. Too much talking and advice. If a player needs all that help on how or what to shoot...he don't belong there to start with. Johnnyt

I'm a fan of JA; he's actually a decent person.

It's funny though that when he decides to make a personal sacrifice
and begin entering MC events he calls out other (American) players on why they're not there.

Hey, JA, not everyone will be at every event.
Also, how does JA know that "other players don't share the same passion" that he does about the MC?"

Anyways, he concludes it with a "just my opinion."
It's obvious that his remarks are only that -- just an opinion.

Nonetheless, I wish JA well in his quest to make the team.

Excellent point, Johnnyt!

Sounds like he's trying to light a fire under somebody.

Meow.. sounds like it

I like JA but I think it is overstepping to question motivations and ask why certain players do not play in certain tourneys.
Players can play in any tourney they like and if he does not like it, too bad

I'm with Archer. If you're looking to compete with the truly elite, you should have signed up for Turning Stone months ago. The dates have been on my calendar for months now, and I'm only a fan. If you're skipping the toughest events, it says something about your commitment to excellence.

Personally, I think Archer had a very poor year in 2015, but if he turns it around this year and plays well enough to qualify on competitive performance, I'm fine with his inclusion. That said, by December, he'll be 48 and I'd be shocked if he gets a wild card at a time when America has begun to commit to its young players.

Turning Stone is a super-tough event and if Archer kicks off the year with a top-10 finish, he'll be making a statement. Good luck to Johnny.

He may be overstepping his bounds, so to speak, but if he wants to be on the team AND he wants to win, he certainly wants the best players on his team. The best way to get the best players is make them compete for it. Rooting for Johnny, and hope that when the dust clears, the players step up so we don't have the same debate we have every year- if only so and so had been on the team. Compete for it or sit at home.

I like Johnny & he is one heck of a player & I hope he gets back on the team.

Is he going to make EVERY tournament that has Mosconi Points to get?

Is someone going to call him out for the first one that HE misses?

That was not a well thought out post IMO.

Right you are people do forget they just like to focus on the negatives. Johnny Archer was the Shane of his day a favorite to win every event he entered.

Nick Varner was just a monster no give up win or lose.

Then why don't you go on facebook and tell Johnny that you are willing to be his post editor so he doesn't look so foolish when he makes posts?

JA has stirred up more crap with posts, new organizations, boycots, being "semi retired" etc. than most all players.

If I did that for you... there would be no words of yours for ANYONE to view & that would be a very good thing IMO.

Why don't you do what you did a couple of years ago & go back & wipe out all of your posts since the last time that you did that.

That would be a blessing that you could leave us with.

One blind clown being led by another blind clown.

The players need unity not division... not even in the slightest way.

Calling your 'colleagues' not serious for missing one tournament is being hypocritical unless Johnny is not going to miss any.

I doubt anyone that is not at this tournament for whatever reason appreciates Johnny calling them non serious players.

Fools often laugh when they shouldn't.
