it is for sale if you are interested .. got it back recently from Bill after a re-finish and re-sizing of the shafts down to 12.75 with new moori medium tips.

i don't think you will see too many with that type of burl wood... the "knots" are amazing...

You wont see ANY with that type of burl wood - because it's bocote, which is not uncommon. It is a beautiful cue. I love Josswest cues.

I would not recomend having a shaft turned down a cue you plan to sell. It can cost you money two ways useualy. Once to have it done and then in lower offers because it doesnt have a full 13.mm shaft. If you you have two shafts, leave at least one full size. It will help retain the maximum value of you'r cue, and add to future collectability.

that is one way to look at it, i guess ... but i find a lot of people today buy great cues and then add on production shafts like the predator which are in the 11.75 to 12.75 mm range simply because they dont enjoy using a 13mm tip.

i would rather play with the original shaft and have it made to my own preference .. i play with every cue i own from time to time ... i dont really buy them to sell ... but of all the cues i have sold so far, not one buyer has negotiated the price based on tip size...

perhaps i have been lucky so far :)

every cue since the josswest that i have had made for myself has had shafts of 12.50 - 12.75 and they play wonderfully.

it is the ones i get in trade or on the secondary market that need to be re-fitted with predators or OB-1's...

ultimately it comes down to personal preference...

i am having a cue made now by one of the best... he and i had quite a long conversation about tip size and taper and at the end it, he said he would make it at 12.50mm ... shall be posting that up towards the end of feb ... and i am pretty sure that if i offered it for sale ( which i shall not ) , it would go in a minute :)

all the best,
kam

Nice figuring on the cue! Got all confused when you said it was burlwood cause it certainly didn't look like one. I was right on the bocote. :D
