Obviously, something or someone bumped the table. The laminate still shouldn't crack. I've been around A LOT of Gold Crown's in my 30+ years of playing and I've never seen the laminate crack like that. Never, and we're talking about tables that were 30-60 years old along the way in heavy commercial use. These have been in play for what? A couple weeks? My buddy accidentally bumped his GCI with his massive gun safe. The damage want's even close to this. IMO, they're cheaply made junk. I'm not sure how they plan to compete against Diamond in the 7' market with issues like this. That didn't come from playing. Heavy-handed movers not knowing their job.
Just curious, is this a table being used in the current tournament?
Yes. The photo was from a friend who is playing in the BCA event.Just curious, is this a table being used in the current tournament?
Its either laminate over wood or over metal. SAM tables have always had metal rails with a layer over it.Isn't that laminate glued to wood? Looks more like a cut than a dent.
I don’t think it’s really fair to generalize about a country’s players. SVB always kind of has a frustrated demeanor at the table. It’s true that “Kentucky Fats” Woodward wasn’t playing great. But Tyler has been playing in all these events and seems really focused as usual. And several other American would-bes are giving it their all, I think. All the top American players are soft and being cry babies and it shows in their games at the event. SVB clearly has no interest. He is visibly frustrated with the breaking and doesn't like how the two balls behind the one do not go into the side pocket breaking from the middle, because of the slick equipment. Meanwhile, all the rest of the players adapt and deal with it. It's an event with a big purse and they don't care to support it. Only reason they are playing is because it is at the same event and same equipment as the World 10 ball coming up after this event.

Based on a previous photo I posted, it has to be laminate on top of plywood. Its either laminate over wood or over metal. SAM tables have always had metal rails with a layer over it.
Yeah, don't think impact damage would cause that. No scuffing I can see. Jammin mechanic maybe.Based on a previous photo I posted, it has to be laminate on top of plywood.
Butcher block style is completely different than plywood. This is plywood. They are multi-piece butcher block style. Much stiffer/stronger than solid wood. Diamond factory technician told me that's one reason they bank differently, the rail is much stiffer than those on a GC.
It looks like a side impact which caused the laminate to bend and crack.Yeah, don't think impact damage would cause that. No scuffing I can see. Jammin mechanic maybe.
Could be but nothing visible in the photo. It looks like a side impact which caused the laminate to bend and crack.
That's like marine grade plywood. that shit is strong as hell. see how many plies there are? yes, technically its plywood but strong as fk plywood. they make ocean going boats out of this stuff. actual marine grade isn't even this thick and uses water-proof adhesive. this stuff looks to be at least 1" thick. I don't know why anyone would be concerned with the strength of this material. Rather have this than the old metal KSteel-style rails.Butcher block style is completely different than plywood. This is plywood.
I just watched Gorst and Ko Pin Yi and it was very good, Ko made some crazy kick shots. Ko won with no shootout. Gorst won first set Ko the last two. Very entertainingI haven't watched many of the matches, but the few I did were filled with substandard play.
That must be why he's in last 16! LOLif that is the case, he should get up and get lost.
