league play? marietta billiard club?

i starting playing 37 yrs ago but never league play. really know nothing much about it. moving back to the usa ina month and will be there maybe 6 months or more. is it once/week...team member matches or individual? the closest, best place would be marietta billiard club, marietta ga. can you join for that short period of time and does there have to be an opening in oder to play? what might the cost be to join, table costs etc? how is one rated?

leagues at Marietta Billiard club

There are different leagues at MBC both tap and apa,both 8 and 9 ball as well as double jeopardy formats that play both 8 and 9 on the same night. Tap league will cost you 6 dollars per format per night and that includes table time. Apa will cost you 9 dollars per night per format and that also includes the table time. Most league seasons run about 16 weeks and are currently in the 9th or 10th week. I can not advise you as to the best league for you but will say that in our tap leagues we have 3s that run racks and short stops playing as 7s. we have a 4 that put a 3pack together a few weeks ago in 9 ball. tap allows jump cues apa does not. if you have never played in a league you will start as a skill level 4 and that will adjust fairly quickly. If you have any specific questions feel free to pm me. It is a team format comprised of 5 individual matches.

Marietta is a good night out, whatever you play, when you get into GA you could also PM me and I'll try and sort something out for you. I think we may be putting together a new 8 Ball Team for Thursday Night TAP for the next session that starts in October. You are more than welcome to be a member of that new Team again just PM me when you arrive. I will be speaking with the League OP Thursday to talk about a new Team and will let you know.
