Leagues and tournaments in Raleigh area?

Moving to the area within a month, and wanted to know the best places to play. Interested in some sort of weekly leagues and tournaments. I'll be moving there by myself and need something to do occasionally at night.

Suggestions?

I live in Raleigh.

There is the APA, but frankly I avoid it. Don't know if it's like this everywhere, but my experience with the APA around here was lot's of politics, cliques, conflicts of interest, and the sandbagging/handicap "management" was totally out of control.

There is also a new league called NAPA, which is just starting out but has been fun so far.

There are quite a few tournaments around here. Mostly 9-ball. I shoot at Brown's Billiards and Brass Tap. Both good halls with decent, full-size tables. There is also Sharky's, New York Billiards and many others, but I don't know much about them. Pool is HUGE in North Carolina.

Depends on which part of town you are in. If you are toward Cary/Apex side, then Highhouse Billiards in Cary is nice, and OntheSnap in Fuquay further to the south.

Someone already mentioned halls in town. I dont recall the name as I moved away a year ago. However, there is another poolhall in Cary that was called Babineaus, but had changed ownership after I left, so not clear on its name now.

I also avoided the APA there as I had issues with favoritism causing me to be raised and locked in at higher rank. However, may of them have weekly small tourneys or cash leagues.

So if the APA leagues seem like a bad option, do you guys recommend in-house leagues or weekly tournaments? If so, where?

I play in APA and cash leagues. It's a super fun area for league. It's not always perfect, but give it a shot. I think you will like it..
