Leather Cue cases and cigarettes.....

I was out playing yesterday and the pool hall was pretty packed, and the smoke was pretty bad...anyways the next day when I grabbed my case and started to remove the cues, ( I hanged them when not in use) I noticed that my cue case smells like an ashtray, even the butt of the cue smells like an ashtray (and it does not even have a wrap !!!) so how do I remove the smell from my leather case ?

BTW.. I am from the Philippines, so it would wise to recommend stuff that are easily found in the supermarkets

the pool hall i usually play in is also packed with smoke. yeah, the smell stinks. nagdidikdik muna ako ng uling then i dissolve it in water, nilulublob ko yung basahan ko dun, then pinupunasan ko ung butt ng tako ko. after that, i get another basahan and soak it in a soap solution to induce a good smell on the cue, then get another basahan, soak in water this time, then clean the butt with it.
for the shaft, i just sand it if it really smells so bad. i dunno, my shaft doesnt smell bad...:)
 
hmm... good i didn't play yesterday then.

But then again, it was a Sunday...and Sunday's, I cant play pool.

i get that too here....well it's not just my case and cue that smells like cigarrette, i too smell like it and my hands etc. I just don't do anything, the smell iventually just goes away.
 
Second hand smoke may be bad for the cues and cue cases. We'll have to ask the Surgeon General about that.

well lots of places since there are a lot of pool halls here...


as for butt...I guess this is easy to clean, i guess clean towel with a little detergent or even wax can remove the smell

my main concern is the leather case
 
you can do the same with the leather case as well bud. ;)

its real leather and its the typw that would absorb water... unlike most cases sold in RP which is made from vinyl. The vinyl cases can use soap and water since it wont absorb water

Ever heard of mink oil? This works pretty good on leather. It will help protect your leather case from harmful effects of mosture. After using it, you could wipe your case with a wet cloth and mild detergent. I'd put to mink oil on once in a while for protection.
 
Mink oil...heard of it..but have not actually used one...

will check the local shoe / bag repair shops ?
 
Yes. One of the other posters brought this up in an earlier thread. He was referring to leather wraps. I think he was a cue repair person or a cue maker. I got some and it says that it helps make leather products water resistant. I think it makes the leather softer too.
 
gguy, so you are working? do you plan on turning pro? im only 19 and i have plans of turning pro someday. im an engineering student btw,ive been playing pool for like 4 yrs already. i think im doing good already, but still lack a little on pocketing skills, and some cb control...hehe.
how old r u btw? and how long have u been playing pool already?

i dont play money games btw, no matter how hard my opponent begs me, i wont play for money. i play pool for fun. bayad mesa lang palagi laro ko, ang pinakasugal ko is buena only...hehe.
of course people watching us can do side bets, i dont care...:D
 
"FEBREZE" , on the shelves in many stores, takes out the smoke smell from furniture quite well...might work for other things!?
