Limbsaver X-1

I saw the ad for this a few times, but haven't said anything yet. I see that Buddy and The Professor are plugging this invention. And seeing as how Grady does post here......I was wondering if they would like to give us some more info on this thing.

I thought it was kind of odd seeing those 2 as reps for the Limbsaver! But with an open mind I am willing to listen to anything good that can be said about the Limbsaver X-1. Just for the reason that I respect both Buddy and Grady and would hope they wouldn't put their name on a novelty product!

The X-1 Stabilizer

This product takes most of the vibration out of the butt of the cue. It's only $30 and it works. We can fit virtually any cue. If you are interested you may call 1-877-257-2761. Grady

PTM -- I bought one a few weeks ago. I screwed it into the butt of my new Viking, took a few shots, and said, "Wow! I really can't feel any vibration!" Then I unscrewed it and took a few more shots, and you know what? It was all in my head! I didn't feel any vibration without it either. So...I put it in a drawer, and there it still sits. Maybe it makes a difference to SOME people, with SOME sticks, shooting SOME shots, on SOME tables, with SOME balls, but it didn't for me. It won't be the first $30 I've wasted (nor the last, I'm sure).

That's kinda what I was thinking. I was wondering how much vibration there was without that! lol

Also I was wondering about the weight it would be adding to your cue and throwing off the balance point???? Or am I wrong?

Vibration Analysis

Hey guys, I have access to some pretty sophsticated vibration analysis equipment. Send it to me and I will test it. You ship it and I will test it and ship it back. No problem man. Infared testing equipment. Cost about $10,000.
Of course this would be an independent test study. I will post the results. Send me a PM for address.

I was concerned about that, too. The device weighs 8/10ths of an ounce. (I weighed it on my postage scale.)

As I'm sure you know, all Vikings come with removable weight bolts. At the same time that I installed the Limbsaver device, I took out the weight bolt. The bolt weighs exactly 1 ounce (I thought it would weigh more), so there wasn't much difference in weight for me. As it turned out, after I took the Limbsaver off and played a bit with my stick without the weight bolt in it, I liked it better without the extra ounce! The balance point shifted forward about an inch, and I liked that, too. So...I got some lemonaide out of that lemon!

PTM, I don't know how much it weighs ( does anyone?) but someone once told me that for every ounce throws the balance point off 1/4 ". It was a cuemaker that said it I just can't remember who said it. Opinions anyone? If it really works I would buy one but I think I would recess it into the butt instead of having it hang out, wonder how that would work. B

2nd AZ real world test. Remember the Instroke Insulation Test. Man, that got me some nasty mail!!!!! Seems like where there is a $ to be made, they all live in another world. I don't go to Wall Mart and buy my test equipment. The company I work for has $18 billion dollars in assets. When they want to know the facts, you better give them the real world facts. You don't baffel anybody around here with BS, or your ass is gone.

No. You're PTM! FL=Fast Larry.

And, yes, I've noticed that everybody has been playing nice lately. :)

Now...where did I put my wa? :D

I'm a bit puzzled at how a small thing like this can make a difference in ones game. I used to be a sucker at gadgets and other stuff. I learned my lesson. I used to be one of those shopping channel freaks. For that $30 I think i'll just buy myself a new Dufferin Sneaky Pete cue. At least i'll have something to break and fool around with.

I don't know if I am right or wrong here, but doesn't vibration equate to feel? I would think that the vibrations that the cue makes is its way of telling you how it hit. I never thought of getting the LimbSaver cuz it would be like putting a muzzle on my cue. It's not like misshitting a golf ball on frozen turf, take the vibration out of that and I'll pay you $300. And what 'limb' is it sposed to be saving anyway, I have never heard of anyone getting 'pool elbow'. Someone needs to invent BackSaver if anything.

I feel the same way. Why would I want to kill the reasonance and vibration of the cue?
I understand you would want this thing on a rifle or bat. But, not in pool where feel is important.

The name, Limbsaver, comes from the company's other main-line products for rifles and archery bows. Their website is www.limbsaver.com.

I'm FedExing mine to Don Purdy this afternoon so that he can do his analysis. Already did mine (it does nothing), but maybe his more scientific approach will be helpful to others.

I went to their website and it is sposed to do more than just dampen the vibration, I quote:
  • Dampened vibration of your cue stick
    Enhanced energy on your break
    Consistent English
    Controlled spin

Is there anyway that we can test this?

Grady, I hope that you are not taking this as an attack on you, at least not from me. I don't know you personaly but I have great respect for you and what you have done for this game that I love.

Buddha

My friend, no one is trying to attack anyone. I too have a great deal of respect for Grady. I have met him twice and found him to be a nice guy. Someone wanted to know what the thing does as far as vibration is concerned. I can test it in a scientific way. I don't mind and I hope you don't. They seem to be making some pretty incredible claims. Hey man, if it works, I will be the first one to buy one.
