Looking to start playing 14.1

BCA web site would be a good place for the rules. There is a Straight Pool section of this forum that has a ton, and I mean a ton of good information, much of it leading to other sites.
Capell's Play Better Straight Pool and Babe Cranfied's Straight Pool Bible are good books to begin with. Accustats has a ton of tournament videos.
Good luck!

Im not a very strong player but i want to start playing 14.1 and i cant find any instructional sites or videos anywhere can anyone tell me the general rules or a place to find info on the game? would be much appreciated thanks

If you're near Chicago you might be interested in getting lessons from George Fels. I think you can contact him through Chris's Billiards (773-286-4714).

George is a renowned straight pool player, teacher and author (and a nice guy). At least a half dozen of his books are available on Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/c9eogb

...or on EBay: http://tinyurl.com/cgyefs

You might want to purchase John Schmidt's 14.1 DVD's. I have both and they helped me a lot, and I've been playing for over 50 years. Johnnyt

if you are near chicago seek out boardmember dennis- "dmgwalsh". I don't think he even knows other games besides 14.1 even exist, but you couldn't find a nicer guy to even hit up for pointers.

IMO it's still the best game played on a pool table.

As someone else suggested, definitely try the Straight Pool forum right here at AZ.

Good luck!

Go to veoh and youtube and you will find plenty of 14.1 instructional material that has been put up there by myself and several other members of this forum.

I also must say that Babe Cranfied's Straight Pool Bible is a great book to get started. Its a simple read with many key concepts.

I can also say that dmgwalsh is a great guy and someone that will really enjoy talking straight pool with you.

IMO straight pool is the best game, and will help all other games if you really study the game and strive to play it correctly.
