I just found it on ESPN Classic I got to watch half of it wish i could of taped it. I guess I should look up billiards on ESPN Classic to see when they are going to air these events. In this competition Allen Hopkins is 30 Years old. :p

Was a pretty good watch. Amazing how well Jimmy Moore played for a guy in his early seventies. Hopkins, though only thirty, had already won a world championship and come second in another. He was hardly a newcomer on the scene.

A little painful watching Wimpy playng such mediocre pool. I saw him in his prime, and watching him play this kind of pool brought back memories of when I watched my friend Irving Crane compete in the 1986 World Open straight pool event in Philadelphia with greatly diminished skills.

I remember seeing Allen playing Lassiter on Wide World of Sports 8-10 years before that. I remember the announcers referring to him as "Young Hopee"

Wow I would of liked to see Lassiter play, and yes SJM it was great seeing Jimmy Moore playing that great at that age. I would love to see more of these classics I hope they aire more. c-man

It's was like watching Willie Mays misjudging fly balls in his last few games before retirement.

I only had a chance to see Irving play live once, and that was a straight pool tournament at Jack&Jill in Arlington, VA around 1970 or 71 and he just steamrollered the entire field, which was a good one. Even that year wasn't when he was in his absolute prime. The guy was GREAT!

ESPN aired the whole event last year about this time. I taped all of them. Great seeing them all play. I have fond memories of seeing most of them play in person. Not to mention playing Balsis and Mosconi. I'd imagine in time they will show all those matches again.

I could only watch about 10 min. - Didn't want to see anymore.......

I was really looking forward to seeing Luther play again. I saw him play many times in Johnston City & SC, at his peek. I also saw Jimmy play in NM about 3 times, in his peek.
I guess (because I'm getting there also) I didn't want to watch these great players play at such a level. I would just as soon remember them for the way they played at their peek.
NO ONE PLAYED 9-BALL LIKE LUTHER IN JOHNSTON CITY.
NO ONE PLAYED 9-BALL LIKE LUTHER, until Buddy Hall.
