Hello Straight Pool Fans-
Just a reminder that the new dates for World Straight Pool Championships is
MAY 30-JUNE 4 , 2006

It will still be held in the NY/NJ region of the country.

The invitational field is full with only the qualifier spots left for availability.
We will announce the field of players in upcoming press releases.

But for a sneak preview, there is roughly 25 USA players invited and about 25 international invitees.
This includes players such as:

Rodney Morris
Charlie Williams

Legends:
Nick Varner
Allen Hopkins
Dallas West

Guys we havent heard from in awhile:
Jimmy Mataya

NJ/NY heroes:
Tony Robles
George San Souci
Jose Garcia

European Stars:
Thorsten Hohmann (Germany)
Mika Immonen (Finland)
Niels Feijen (Holland)

Asian Stars:
Young Hwa Jeong(Korea)
Marlon Manalo(Philippines)

and many more...!

Spread the word because we expect this to be a sold out event from the response we've gotten thus far!
We will keep you all posted on this mailout and feel free to pass on this email address to those who may want to watch, play in qualifiers, or host a qualifier.

DVDs?

Hi folks

Thanks for the information. Its great to see some "Guys we havent heard from in awhile" in your line-up.

One question I'd like to ask. Will the event be filmed by the likes of Accu Stats so that those of us who cannot make it to see the event live can still enjoy the action?

All the best with the tournament and best wishes for 2006.

World 14.1 Taping

we are working on that and will do our best to see if we can get video and coverage for everyone
thanks

Can you post some info about qualifiers in here?

You just got to get Efren in this one. He won the straight pool tourney in Maine and came in 3rd at the last US 14.1 in NY. He brings fresh new ideas to the game running hundreds. Also hows about inviting Danny Diliberto one of the 14.1 greats.

Thanks for the info. It is very exciting to hear about this. Man, I love this game!

Perhaps a weekly update is in order to keep up interest until this unbelievable event takes place.

How about starting with the particulars of the event, ie. location and format.

Each week as invitations are accepted, perhaps a running list?

Just a suggestion.

Aren't you putting on this event?

can't forget Danny Barouty from NYC ... he's a threat to win any straight pool tournament - I'll be sitting in front of his table (never seen anybody make it look easier ...)

A guy on my pool team goes to Jose Garcia's Straight Pool Tournament in Vineland, NJ, held on Tuesday nights. I don't know the name of his pool room, but I think this should be enough information to get you started.

Sounds like a great event ! I think it would be interesting to see 9-ball specialists Earl and Archer in the field as well.

I think you should give an invite to Wu Chia Ching. He already won the 9 ball and 8 ball WPC. It would be interesting to see how he does in 14.1

John Schmidt, Thomas Engert, Efren Reyes, Rempe and Sigel are some top guys not on the list.

I'm sure Zuglan and Barouty will be in attendance as well -> both are world class straight pool champions...

It would be simply amazing if he won this event, a world championships 3 pack at sixteen years old:eek: He rarely plays events over here though and I don't think he would play this event unless there was considerable prize money at stake.

MJ,
In this day and age NOBODY is a straight pool specialist. While Johnny is definitely a 9-ball phenom, he has great interest in, and aptitude for the "grand old game" of 14.1.

Here is a link to a thread describing my straight pool match with the Scorpion.

P.S. - that match was a year ago, I've been practicing since, and I would KICK HIS A## if we ever played again (well, at least that's what I was dreaming last night).

Yes I am sponsoring this event, doesn't mean that we all shouldn't get up to the minute information, right?

BTW, Engert schmidt ets have been invited as well as Archer. If no on has conflicts in schedules, all will be present.

Randy
