McDermott I-shaft question

Have any of you matched one of these ICE shafts to a custom order yet? I'm about to order a new cue and I was thinking about having an I-2 and I-3 matched to the cue. My new cue is going to have a piloted ivory joint so I was wondering if the carbon fiber core would affect the ability to have a piloted joint? I know that there is usually a brass insert installed on piloted joints and that the male portion of the pilot is on the shaft. I would imagine that an ivory ferrule would diminish the low deflection part of the cue somewhat but has anyone installed either an ivory or an Ivor-X ferrule and if so did it cause any major problems and how much did it change/diminish the deflection characteristics? I’m not one of the people that must have a shaft that doesn’t deflect at all, but I’ve read some of the positive comments here about the shaft and thought that I might try it out. I’ve had some issues with shaft warpage in the past and the idea of a lifetime warranty against warpage on the shaft is quite appealing! Thank you in advance for any information you might be able to give me.

I emailed McDermott these questions and this is what I got back:

Zackery,

We have been successful with making matching i-shafts for just about any joint style. We are currently offering a 5/16”-14 joint style that has a piloted brass insert as found on Schon cues. Is this what you are looking for?

I don’t think we can do an Ivory ferrule on the i-shafts, but Ivor-X may be an option. I don’t think that would change the characteristics much at all.
