Metal lathe, what else would be needed?

If I was to buy a metal lathe, looking at a small local used one, what would I need to go with it to do ferrule and tip repairs? Or would it be good to go just as a metal lathe? Thanks once again!

I found a nice Compact 5 metal lathe at a garage sale. Not counting wrenches needed to use it, I bought collets, carbide tool holders, carbide bits and a steady rest to hold the back end of the shaft. A tip centering tool, live center, dial indicator, caliper and consumables I already had. The lathe was $225. The other things came to around $150-200. I have always regretted not just getting a Cueman or Unique brand dedicated cue lathe.

If you only ever plan on doing tips and ferrules, you can get by with a 7x12, but things tend to snoball.. so going a step up to a 10x22 will let you do more stuff, like threading shafts and so on. I think Grizzly wants about $1500 for a 10x22, which is a fair price for what you get.
A collet chuck and a quick change tool post would be nice upgrades.
