My case is history. Question!?

Okay after a few years my case is finally ready for retirement. I am looking for something atleast 3X6 and as cheap as possible. I've looked around the internet and found that Lucasi makes a 4X8 that may fit the bill. It's a wierd hard/soft combo (the butt section is hard, the shaft compartment is soft). Has anyone seen one of these before? Is it a decent case for the money?

Also, the site that seems to have the best price on them is cuestore.net. Have any of you dealt with them before? Any opinions on them?

TIA

I wouldn't insult my cues by putting them into a piece of junk. Nothing but tooled leather for my babies

After a few years? Now you are looking for another cheap case. Buy a good Instroke. It will protect your cues and give a lifetime of service. If all you want is something to carry them in then anything will do. If you want to protect the cues you need a premium case.

Instrokes and whatnot

Well, I was hoping for more information on the Lucasi line of cases not testimonials for Instroke. Yes, I am aware that Instroke is the best manufacturer of production cases. Thankfully, they are better at case design than web design. Their site is either broken or does not work with firefox as it is throwing an error written in Chinese. Anyhow, I would like to get an Instroke when I have a spare $300. Don't have it, can't get it, not gonna happen.

So, back to the original question. Has anyone used one of the Lucasi Hard/Soft cases? I was looking for something along the lines of "I had it for a week, the handle broke" or "I've had on for about six month. It's held up pretty well.".

a player i know has one.........he seems pleased with it.......store that sold it to him said it had lifetime warranty, its nice and light. Personally I dont care for it because i dont like the thought of a soft case.

I have the Lucasi 3/5 and it is great. Nice case, lightweight, spring loaded butt section. Really great case...it was just too big for my tastes. I use it to store cues now is all. Pretty darn well made and super easy to get cues in and out of.

You've got me stumped ,,,the only Lucasi (4x8) my catalogs show for the last three years is a 'soft' case,,,can't remember any soft/hard combos...?

My case is history. Question!?

I would suggest to go with the $90 porper offered in this forum. The Lucasi is a nice design for storage and people selling cues, except that your shafts are not fully protected due the soft portion of the case. This means if you bump into a corner of a table, have something roll on the case when in the truck of your car, or something like that, you will probably be playing with a dented shaft. That would make me irrate if it were my playing shaft and I was in a match.

Good luck.

Great advice

The Lucasi case will be little more then a mode to transport your cues, it wont protect them much at all from moisture, heat changes, getting dropped, getting kicked, getting stepped on, ect.... You are really getting what you are paying for, they ARE cheap for sure.

It really depends on what cues you are buying the thing for. If your cues are all reasonably cheap then buy the Lucasi. If a cheap cue gets damaged due to minimal protection you are not going to be out alot of cash, a cuetec with a ding in it or a slightly bent joint pin will have a minimal real dollar effect on the value of your cue. Then again if you are protecting cues of the $300+ range each you might want to get something a little more protective to put $1000 worth of cues in. My main playing cue is worth about $3000 while my breaker is $500 and there is no way in hell I would get that Lucasi for those cues, if I were going cheap I would at least get a hard case like the above Porper or one of the square cases that are even cheaper.

That there is a cheap case, but it will protect a cue better then the soft case you are looking at. Of course that case linked will last about 2 years before it is in tatters and needs replacing too but that is gonna happen with any cheap case you buy. The minimal amount you could spend for a case to last a lifetime would be the $160 Instroke.

seems to be a hard/soft case. It is NOT the same case you are looking at on that site you linked, that site has the Lucasi 4 X 8 and it is a soft case with no hard section like the above. The above case for $50 or so bucks aint bad, shafts can be replaced and the cues would be protected well enough in that.

looks more like those Lucasi you are looking at, that is a soft case with no hard compartment for the butts.

There are lots of 3X6+ hard cases on Ebay in the $50 range +- $10 that are way better then the one you are looking at.

A little off topic, but their web design has nothing to do with their site. It's because they have updated their servers to work with the new code Firefox uses. I emailed Firefox about this myself and they confirmed it. Sent Instroke a email about it and I belive that considered it spam. Oh well...

I know you are looking for a 3x6 but I do have these 3x5 for sale. They are lightweight and best of all have a padded shoulder pad. I sell these for $75 shipped. Ive sold many of this cases locally and they are very popular among players... Email me at dooziexx@yahoo.com if you are interested. You can view pics here:

I would make sure that is a instroke Premier Vinyl case. It does not look like the premiere case it looks like a leather one. They might show you one picture and sell you something else. But if that is the Premier Vinyl case they have I would buy it. The ones I have just dont look like that.

That is exactly how the newer Permier cases look like. I have a 3x5 and it is an exact copy of the one in the photo. The vinyl is convincingly leather-looking, and is cut from substantial material, unlike the paper-thin sheet that covers lesser cases (guiseppe, action, etc).

Just remember you get what you pay for. I personally have a Instroke case and would never own anything diffrent it is by far the best case I have ever own.

You cannot go wrong with either a porper or an instroke for the $.

I was surprised by the quality of the vinyl on the Instroke Premier. I have a Geo 3x5 and a good friend of mine has a 2x4 Premier. Now the Geo is made from recycled leather and a good buy if you want a leather case.

Now that being said $90 for a porper is a good deal..... Don't think twice
