This past weekend was coc(challenge of champions). This was my first session playing in pool league and it was very eye opening. First let me say that I had alot of fun. I really looked forward to every mon(9ball) and tues (8ball). We took first place in our division and had an automatic bye to coc. There was only 2 out of 8 people on our team who had ever made it there before, and it showed! Between the hotel, brand new diamond tables and hundreds of players around we were out of our element. Despite the early first round exit we had a great time. I would like to thank Mary, our league operator, and Jacoby cues for a great tournament and I look forward to competing next session. Just wanted to share a newbie's perspective;)

Every time you go you will go with more confidence and experience. As it was for me my first taste of playoffs only made even hungrier. Conrats for making it that far. Just take that loss and turn it into something positive!

This weekend was also our City Championship. My experience wasn't too great over all. In our Division Championship we won, but the experience was fun because we were playing playoff teams from our division and everyone is still for the most part out to have fun. It's a little more serious but still good fun banter and chatting between the teams. City Championship is a different story and some teams take it way too serious IMHO. They really take the the fun out of this whole Amateur Pool League thing.

I mean seriously, our local APA League plays out of a bunch of bars with a bunch of new pool players and amateurs all season, then all of a sudden in the City Championships people think we are pros playing in a major tournament and take it so serious that its just no fun anymore. But, that is just me. I'm just out to have fun since I'm approaching my late 30s.
