My First Serious Cue. A Joss 2015.

Hello,

This is my first post so I'll make it about my first cue. I got it from Shooters for about half of the msrp, as Joss discontinued the whole 2000 series and they had 1 2015 left. Justin was awesome and I highly recommend Shooters.

The cue is 19.5 oz. with four ebony points into maple. Six smaller points on the butt balance the four larger points on the forearm, all of which have inlayed pearl crosses, with small ivory inlays bordering the back of the grip as well. The shine and finish on this cue are amazing. The whole look is classy bu understated, just what I wanted. I am very happy with it and the play is rock solid. :D Attached are some pictures.

Best,
Trip

Ya can't go wrong with that one baby. Nice solid hitting cue. That's all Joss makes. Been that way for a long time. Two of the best cuemakers around came out of that shop. Dan Janes is no slouch either. Ought to be a real Trip to play with. :D

Thanks Purdman. A question: how do you feel about breaking with a Joss? Am I better off to dedicate another cue for that purpose? Or can the Joss handle good hard breaks?

Thanks,

Breaking is just fine with your playing cue. You will see your tip change shape over time faster though...

Breaking with a Joss

> Trust me,you cannot possibly hurt that cue,you might wear out tips, but nothing on it will ever come apart unless you try and break it. They are like Lee Dungaree's,can't bust'em. Tommy D.

I've got a Joss with a predator shaft that I have been breaking with for 7 years and it stil is as good as new. I have an absolute slamming break as well, so no worries. As mentioned above, you will have more tip wear.

Like they have been saying, the only problem with breaking with your playing cue is the tip. Breaking with it changes the shape and compresses the leather. I would rather have a differant break cue myself.
