Little update. Now with my favorite Japanese Woodprint on the wall "Takiyasha the Witch and the Skeleton Spectre". Matches with my cue case.

I thought you guys might enjoy seeing an unusual-looking home pool room. This is my pool room in Japan.
The light wood elements are all Japanese Cypress.
I hope this is the right subforum to post this, some of you might have seen my pictures on other platforms already. Anyway, let me know what you think :)

It took 7 months to receive the 9FT diamond table from the US to Japan. Cloth is Simonis 860HR Powder Blue. Aramith Duramith TV Pro-Cup balls. The light is by a fellow member here.

Very nicely done sir. One of the best rooms I have ever seen. Pure class set up.

May I invite myself over for some games next time I’m Asia? (whenever that will be, but hopefully again asap). Again, gorgeous vibe to the entire thing. Wicked cool wall art & case.

Here is a pic...the pool room I went to in Tokyo. I was told the Tokyo open was played there.

No idea where it was or what it was called but I do know that was one of the guys I played with!

They love the checkered floors here haha, I don't know why but so many pool halls here have floors like that.

Here's the one I used to frequent when I was living near Shinjuku.

Sure but I'm out in the boonies, you would have to go out of your way to come here
I don’t mind lol

I’ve been in the boonies in Japan before. Loved it. The guy who owns Navagator took me and Johnny Archer all over for a week. Cows and everything. We drove the long way from Osaka to Tokyo. Zig zag was great. I like getting lost in Japan. It’s safe, people are wonderful, foods always good. What can go wrong? Japan might be the best place in the world to get lost.

Case is super nice too!

Beautiful! I like the idea for the lighting! I lived in Japan for 3 years in the 70's when Jazz was the rage, and there were jazz bars and jazz coffee shops everywhere, all of them with very expensive sound systems, dual turntables, and a wall of jazz lps; heaven for a jazz lover like me. A couple of years later I returned to find that all the jazz joints were gone, replaced by pool halls! The Color of Money had recently come out ... Love Japan, skied there 2 years ago in Hokkaido, need to go back soon!

Oh man, I’m jealous - been dying to ski Hokkaido region, Niseko etc. I lived/worked in Asia for years, Philippines, Korea, but longest in China & married into a Chinese family. I’ve only visited Japan briefly on biz trips, but loved the rurual parts that I got to see and a Japan family ski trip is on the bucket list for sure. I quit pool in 1995 and basically replaced it with becoming a traveling dive bum. Best life adventures I’ve had have been hooking up couch surfing at new friends diving & skiing in remote places of the planet. Now started playing pool again, and trying to figure out how to make a dive/ski/pool traveling lifestyle my semi-retirement plan. Wonder if there are enough of us distributed hippy pool nuts to do similar. Perhaps an evolved version of the road player. Wife only semi on board, but still working on it…

Great thread! ✌️

My prefecture (Niigata) is famous for their Ski resorts and you'll also find amazing beaches, all-in-one haha
