Well after having a somewhat shiznitty week, I walked in the door today and my attitude changed QUICK. I saw a oblong box on the table and I knew what was in it :D Let me just say (and I hope this does not come across as cliche', because it is right from the heart) that it FAR EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS! Mike done an AWESOME JOB!

The cue is a "Hoppe style", with the "Lambros" joint. The forearm is made out birdseye maple with cocobolo points. The points have several nice veneers in and around them :D The butt sleeve is made out of cocobolo and has a butterscotch ring as well as an ivory ring in it. The cue has "bushka" style rings at A,B,C and D. :D The wrap is butterscotch and ivory irish linen.

The pics have been taken! Time to go hits some balls!

I want to upload Mike's signature by itself. I will upload more in the my next post!

Here is Mike's website..........http://www.jensencues.com/Introduction.html

What is a Lambros joint?

.

.

For those pool players desiring the soft-hitting feel of an ivory joint, we do offer the standard Lambros joint in ivory, for an additional charge. We do not recommend the use of ivory joints in billiard cues, because the excessive forces from hitting the larger heavier balls would eventually cause the ivory to develop stress fractures.

The patented Lambros "Ultra" joint is the single, most significant improvement in cue joint design during the last 75 years. The "Ultra" joint utilizes tenons and beveled edges to provide a self-locking, extremely stiff, vibration-free interface between the butt and the shaft. With the "Ultra" joint, your Lambros cue will transmit a maximum amount of stroke energy to the cue ball, as compared to other, less advanced designs.

Because of the extra stiffness it provides, the "Ultra" joint is provided on every Lambros Billiard Cue. The "Ultra" joint is also highly recommended for Lambros Pool Cues, because it allows the player to have improved cue ball response and control, relative to other cues.

"Ultra" jointed cues cost slightly more than our standard jointed cues, but we add this charge only because of the extra machining work involved. We firmly believe the "Ultra" joint is worth every penny and more of the additional cost.

Did you buy a Lambros or a Jensen?

What you quoted came from the Lambros web site. Mike Johnson had the same person do his web site and the guy used the Lambros site as the base. Doing so he mistakingly left a lot of it intact. There are two different web addresses to Jensen cues. Sometimes the one with the Lambros material shows up.

Here is the link with the Lambros

I don't think that Mike Johnson would or could make a Lambros joint since there is a patent on it.

What you have is probably a 5/16 piloted stainless steel joint.

I had the same question...I also have another one.......why is a "Johnson" a "Jensen"?

The only answer I could come up with regarding the name was in the material of comic Billy Saluga...."aaaah...you can call me Ray....and you can call me Jay.......

Its a Jensen because that is the original family namehis grandparents had when they entered the country. It was then changed to Johnson to be "Americanized"

It is definitely a Jensen.

Your reply explains so much. Thanks!

I am sorry that I had to baited you on this one. I have a Lambros and a Jensen. I just didn't want you to think or tell others that you had a Lambros Utra Joint. You have a nice cue and one of the finest playing and hitting cues there is. Don't think that you got cheated. My Jensen is my full time playing cue. To me it plays the best of all my cues. I have a Lambros, SW, Skip Weston, Layani, Gilbert, CK, Schon, McD, and hate to admit Meucci. Other than the 3 production cues the Jensen is the cheapest.

JENSENCUES WEB SITE IS JENSENCUES.COM -- THE INFORMATION ON THAT SITE IS DEFINITELY A MISTAKE AND HE CANNOT FIND HIS WEBMASTER TO GET IT CORRECTED!! HIS WEBMASTER WAS SUPPOSE TO GET THIS CORRECTED - PRONTO - BUT HE'S DISAPPEARED SO MIKE IS TRYING TO FIND SOMEONE TO TAKE THE LAMBROS INFO OFF. THE SITE SUPPOSEDLY HAD A COMPLETE "FAILURE" BUT WHEN THEY GOT IT BACK UP, THERE WAS THE LAMBROS INFORMATION. HE AIN'T HAPPY ABOUT THIS!!
