Hi Gang,

A friend is coming over this afternoon and needs help selling a Tad. If I recall, it's older and is very similar to the 4 point inlaid model #1 shown below.

I need some ballpark values - realistic cash please, for

- quick sale, wholesale

- retail, going rate

assuming straight, excellent condition with two shafts. Also, if you know anyone looking for a nice Tad, please let me know.

Do Tad's still move pretty fast? My guess is yes, but you never know...

Thanks,

Chris

Good morning Chris. :)

Another friend of mine has a similar Tad and it goes for around 5g's.
Or so he claims but i have no reason to doubt him.

Bill,

Are they easy to move?

Chris

There's a "new" Tad on e-bay right now with a plain black butt, 4 points, going for 2,099 starting bid to give you some idea.

I would list the link but I think it belongs to a member here.

Han,

It might be the same one - please keep it hush, hush, thanks...

That would be me, the link is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7191708447&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MESE:IT&rd=1

At the U.S. Open there were a few others with the same design as mine priced at $2700-$2800.

The Tad1 at http://www.jjcue.com/tadstd.htm was priced at $1800 as another example.

If it's the same one that's on e-bay right now I think $2,099.00 is the no *****ing price. If it's more like the one you show in the pic (#1), which is a much more typical TAD design, I'd say you're closer to $3,500.00 to $4,000.00 (cash and carry) and around $5,500.00 (insurance replacement/retail). I don't see TAD cues lingering on the for sale rack unless they are overpriced. JMO and those are like noses - everyone has one.

around $4k retail and $3k wholesale but something to keep in mind is very few folks can get them wholesale. this is considered a fancy Tad and any fancy one will move well. if it's excellent condition with minimal play, it should be easily for a dealer to move around $3500. private party or ebay may be a tad less.....NPI :)

Waited 15 years to get 1 of these and it's everything I thought it would be and more. Incredible solid sweet hit that sends the rock exactly where you want it. I just thanked my GF again last night and wanted to say thanks to you guys (Matt and jeff as well) at cueaddicts as well. Wishing you continued success.

I think we're all coming to a pretty good agreement on the values and it's pretty much what I thought. I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks guys - all of your experience is invaluable. Of course, let me know if you need any help in my areas.

J.R., yes....looks very familiar. :D And...wrt this thread, if you have an older one that Tad actually made, they are the premium ones that buyers are looking for right now, so add a little more. The quality in the newer ones is generally not as good as with the older ones. Thanks for the kind words. Wishing you and yours the best. Sean

Someone with a fair amount of knowledge of tad's told me that cues in the 1000 range were made in the 80's (For those that aren't aware, if you take off the bumper there is a # stamped in the wood) Mine reads 1320 and was told that puts it in the mid 80's range. Is it true that starting in the early 90's that tad pretty much let fred do most of the work before he did a final inspection before it left the shop. I'm sure the ones that are built today are great...BUT I feel that I would rather have the work of the master instead of the student at least in this situation. X-mas is around the corner and my GF wants to know what i want so I am waiting for a searing to pop up on your site. Better chance of seeing this little guy pop up and start dancing.

I was told by Tad that he still makes all Tads, for what its worth. The one on his website is actually mine, the TAD1M birdseye cue. It shows it is sold, I would like to trade mine for the one on ebay, if it doesnt sell.

Hoping a deal can be made. The cues seem very high in my opinion, but they seem to play pretty well.

Regards
Ken

Chris -

The website is http://www.jjcue.com/tadstd.htm . J and J cues is Tads website. I think it might be his family.

Strange website as it shows what he doesnt have. LOL

Anyway, they have several brands of cues and accessories but a little tough to reach, once you do reach them they are a little hard to understand.

Hope that helps.

OK, Ken thanks a lot.

My understanding is that J & J is the exclusive distributor for Tad. That's what I heard at least.

You can order a golf shirt too but it's a three year waiting list. Tad knits them by hand, one stitch at a time.

If that's true, I wonder who made my J&J jump/break cue. Did I buy a "secret" Tad for 50 bucks.

:) :)
