New cue for the little lady...

PaulL

Arrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhh!
Got this from Danny Spates here in Houston for 150 bucks. Nice and simple, purpleheart short-splice points in a plain maple forearm, white/black linen wrap, purpleheart butt sleeve. The points all line up within 1/16" and the growth rings are in line from the butt to the shaft, a nice little detail. Overall I'm VERY pleased with it, especially the price. The only bad thing about it is it hits like a friggin DREAM and it belongs to the woman. I play with it when she's not looking, though. :D

I'll post some better pics later, but here's what I got now.

Wow, that appears to be a lot of cue for the money, well done. How do I get in touch with this chap?

Close-up's please

can you please post close-up pictures of the points and butt?

I love to see the the purpleheard up-close. :D

I have 3 cues with purpleheart, one dark and the other 2 are medium tone, I like to see more of the growth rings.

Thanx Bugs.

Let me see if I can address everything for you guys.

First, the price is kind of a special deal 'cause I've helped him out on a couple things. That's kind of his basic SP-type cue with a wrap on it. I just requested the PH instead of rosewood. I think it would add a few bucks to it normally. I've had a bunch of people locally asking about it and he told me that if I can get a big order together (like 10+), he can make them with rosewood for that price real quick-like. I think he's at a 2-3 month wait now, otherwise. I guess you guys can get in on that, too, if you like. If you're in Houston, you can email me your phone number at: truthseeker1106 AT earthlink DOT net and I can let you check it out somewhere. I play all over the place. If there's enough interest in it, I'll post a for sale thread or something and we can play around with it that way. Maybe get some kind of "AZBilliards Special" going.

As for contact info, his email is: sscues AT aol DOT com. He's busy as hell, so be patient with him.

On the color of the PH, it may be the lighting making it look bright, but it is kinda bright. It's only got a thin clear on it right now, and the wood is getting more purple by the day. When it gets nice and "purply", he's going to finish the, er....finish. That's not really the normal procedure, but I'm doing it that way, 'cause I'm special. ;) :D

I have some more pics, but I have to stop running around long enough get 'em up here. I'll try to get them up tomorrow sometime. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Oh, and the lady says thanks for the compliments. :)

There are 2 cuemakers in Houston that I would let build me a cue.....Mark and Roger.....preferably Mark. But I've never heard of this guy.......hmmmm, I'm interested as well. Knowing a bunch of people in Houston myself I'm surprised I've never heard of him...The only sscues I know of is Paul Sumrall out of Lubbock. Well if you guys get one post pics and reviews.....

Tony<------very intrigued :p

Where is "The Place" and what do they have in the way of tables and pricing?

Well, right now, "the place" is Slick Willie's on Federal Road. :D Lots of 8' GC's with cheapy cloth and 2 9' GC's with 860 on 'em. Pricing is 3 bucks/hr before 6 and 6/hr after 6. If you get on a table with one of the "regulars", it's free. That's kind of the home pool hall for me, but there's a lot of other places I get to, too many to list really. Let me know what part of town you're in, and I can narrow it down for you. I'm still trying to sit down and get the pics up 'cause the woman had me playin' all day. She doesn't want to put the thing down, now. Not that I'm complaining. :D

Here are some more pics. The color's still not quite right in the pics, but you get the idea. I screwed with the contrast quite a bit to show how the grain lines up from the butt to the shaft, so the color on that one is WAY off.
