New Shaft, Care Instructions, Total Noob

I got a new shaft made up in virginia and its wood. I used to have a cuetec with the coating and stuff and I had this stuff I'd put on it that would slick it up good but I know I can't do that with the wood one.

So what do I use to get the shaft nice and new-feeling again? I don't want a ton of stuff in my bag so I'd like to keep it simple with as few care products as I can.

Your thoughts gents?

Less is more

The shaft is best left alone as much as possible.

I try to wipe mine down with a barely damp towel after playing alot. Magic erasers are the ticket for a pretty dirty shaft, and I normally use one about once every 2 months or so.

With dings, usually holding the shaft under extremely hot water brings it out, but try not to do this often and follow with terry cloth towel and then allow to air dry and then follow with maybe 1500-2000 grit paper, if necessary.

I use tan chalk, most hate but my shafts look new, feel new and play like new.

Good luck,

Ken

I love the tan chalk.... doesn't stain the shaft and seem to be a finer consistancy....

Here We Go

Uncle Jake's shaft cleaning instructions

what you need

> Mr. Clean magic eraser
> rubbing alcohol
> 1200 grit sandpaper
> leather for burnishing

1st, wet down one end of the eraser w/ alcohol then scrub the cue shaft with it ( knocks the grimy surface shit off)

2nd, use the dry side of the eraser for another scrub ( gets the entrenched, dug in chalk out)

3rd, take a few swipes up and down with the sandpaper ( use sparingly) { knocks down the grain }

4th, use the leather to burnish the shaft super smooth
