Hey guys, first post here. I've been playing for a bit over 10 years, went from hose cues to a players, to an old in poor shape mcdermott, to a lucasi, to my present viking, I loved my old mcdermott, so I recently plunked down the cash and ordered the M64C ( http://www.shopmcdermottcue.com/McDermott/0906.html ) with a 12mm shaft . I got it earlier this week, it was beautiful, I was happy, when I put her together that quickly changed, the collars on the shaft and cue dont fit flush, the shaft is noticably larger than that of the cue, noticable enough that you can see it from 5-6 feet away very easily. I sent it back and they say they may have to send it back to mcdermott, my main question is, is this a common problem? I was under the impression that the joints were a common size, I've never seen this before, but I'm no cue wizard or anything, its got me a litle nervous, also, anything ese i should check for? thanks a bunch guys,

M.

Well, the turning machine that day probably had a dull cutter.
It happens.
Joey~Wishes he had a Hardinge lathe with a taper bar and NSK spindle ~

The retailer should own the problem. Tell em you want what you ordered, shipped out tomorrow, or you want your money back.

The problem you have with your cue, is not the fault of McDermott, but with the distributor trying to fill your order. They probably grabbed a shaft off another cue that was 12mm and sent it on its way. One of the last processes at the McDermott factory is to polish the joint/butt section flush...meaning..each shaft for each butt is custom fit. The joint sizes vary greatly because of this. Your distributor should have never sent the cue out in this condition. They should correct the problem....if they have good customer service. Good luck.
