if i won the usopen,worldchampionships,sanmiguelstop,bca9ball,mosconicup,world8ball,i would not win as much as i could if i won the ipts smallest paying event.now i know i could never win all those i would be super lucky to win any of them,so im thrilled with the ipt and about sick of all the people ragging on the tour and its decisions.i hope macguy shows up at a ipt tourney i will personaly make sure hes given a hard time if not even escorted out by security.

Thrown out for expressing his opinions!! I'm sure that would do a lot of the IPT's profile!!:)

macguy is not the only idealist around here.

I like em though... It makes the forum more interesting to read :)

Just think of them as the Norm Peterson and Cliff Claven of the site.

The fact is, John, that, although the players sometimes forget, the fans of the game have a stake in pro pool and the IPT, too.

Most of those who post here on AZB about pro pool are both serious players and serious fans of the pro game, and, as fans, we can offer highly insightful points of view on matters like the formation and emergence of the IPT.

If you think that only a pro player has the aptitude to pass judgment on the IPT and its activities, you are highly mistaken. I've been attedning pro events since before you were born, and so have many others on this forum. As for your online bullying of a poster whose views you don't much care for, I would suggest that it's inapproriate.

I wish you success as a competitor on the IPT, but asked you to remain mindful that many on AZB are more than qualified to assess the IPT as a business and as a future foundation of our sport, and to comment on the likely implications of IPT actions on this sport. We are your fans, and when we care to, we'll comment on anything important going on in the world of pool, because it affects us, too!

Hi John, havent seen you in a while hope youre well.

I hope you don't count my thread as "ragging", this is a discussion forum and personally I like to discuss all that is good as well as bad with pool and what the future may hold. I've said on many occassions that I think in general the IPT is great and I hope it does well. However I'm tired of rival tours (some even run by players!) deliberately engineering date clashes and then trying to spin it as something else.

As a player I would like to play in all the big events if I could and I'm sure most (and I hope you) would too. I also believe that some players have ambitions to win world titles and the US open at some point in their careers, yes money is important, more so to the full time pro like yourself than I but important none the less. Call me an idealist but I would hope though that your ambitions in pool go further than just getting rich?

Your statements certainly show the respect you have for your fellow players who aren't in the IPT and would love to play in those events. Maybe my previous defense of you was a bit premature.

heres why

i said that because i figure anyone who says the things he says would only show up because he wants things to fail and would contribute to it failing if he could.furthermore i dont think ill have a problem showing up to tourneys that have 2 million dollar prize funds.

Yeah I totally agree, but you probably agree that sometimes fans and players that don't have a vested interest go a little too far, I don't like to see IPT players ethics questions for doing something that will better their lives or help support themselves and family. It's almost like spitting in their face and begrudging them their happiness and joy of a chance at something better.

I know I do business with many corporations or people that have done wrong or don't stand up to my criteria for a moral standard, but life is not always that simple and truth be told every single person on this board has dealings with people that make anything KT did in the past or present look like nothing.

It's fine to state your disagreements or ideas and thoughts about the IPT, but a few have really made it very clear that dealing with the IPT makes them of lower moral integrity and that bothers me.

It's their livelihood, and although I don't like or condone calling out specific posters, in some way I can understand John's frustration.

im sorry

your right i didnt mean what i said about macguy, and everybody knows i would not have a fan thrown out.but i take it personally when people say they hope it fails it like saying they hope me and all the other players stay broke.and as far as me not having respect for the players not on the ipt ,are you kidding i know these guys personally and call just about all of them my friends and it makes me sick what we play for moneywise. i hope all the tours prosper you see i have alot of friends who dont play my speed but they play pretty good so if like the viking tour payed maybe 10,000 instead of 1000 ,that would be great for them all the way up to johnny archer.but if these so called pro events cant figure out away to pay more who cares if they just stop happening.then we could all just play ten ahead sets for 20000 and we could figure out who really plays good the old fashioned way.

The bottom line is that it is unprofessional for the IPT to schedule an event that conflicts with the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open is considered a major in the sport and should be respected for such. I agree that the IPT is the greatest thing so far for pool, but the scheduling of this event at that time is wrong. The bottom line is that Trudeau and the IPT are trying to control the pool scene all together. If pool is to be a successful sport, there needs to be a respect among all promoters and events.

Yes, I do agree.

On the other hand, I can't overstate how impressed I am with the quality of the posts on this forum. Over and over, AZB members show their great scholarship about pool, its culture, and the issues faced by the sport. I won't allow the exceptions to obscure the fact that extraordinary insights into pool are what I've come to expect here on AZB.

John,
You and I have talked about this. The money paid out to players has been obscene. Its inexcusable. The IPT can prosper without sweeping the rest of the tours away, and I'm pretty sure thats not their intention at all. I have friends that run these smaller tours and they put a lot of hard work into what they do. Its extremely difficult to plan these events and its even harder trying to get added money. Sometimes they just laugh at you when you bring it up. That should not be reflective of the tours, it should be reflecive of the billiards industry flipping us players the bird for the past 25 years. I was on the phone today with a player that has been waiting to be paid the remaining sum of money he won in an event 5 years ago. These smaller venues are his only option for the time being, yet he's one of the best players in the world and NOT part of the IPT - yet. Some people still need those tours to exist and they still serve a purpose.

Now on to more important things...
I got this new driver Dave's New Driver - it was a gift similar but different to the one Shane had in J'ville. Hits pretty sweet when other people use it. For me, it does absolutely nothing. lol. You hit the ball unbelieveably well, so I need some advice. For some reason I cant swing my hips through the drive and one of my friends said it was because of my head position and shoulder rotation. Yes. He insinuated my head was up my... lol.. any suggestions for that? I've messed with it enough to where I need help. When I hit it right, it works like a cannon, but I'm getting the same results Shane was getting with his new driver. Is it me or is it just a bad driver?

i'm glad mr. truedue is trying to control the pool world, and it wouldn't be such a bad thing if all the other tours go away. they had their chance, and they FAILED read my type they FAILED!!!!! it's just like right now the news is saying "oh my, it looks like ford and GM may go out of business because of japan" you know, i hope they go out of business, you know why?? because american automobiles suck!!! and japan makes the world's greatest automobiles, america had their chance at making good quality automobiles, and they FAILED!!! if i'm on the bottom 50 of the ipt and lose my tour card, GOOD! i tried, i had my chance, and i FAILED, i should be thrown off!!

Nice, well thought out post. Good to see someone can see that John is simply frustrated and not the anti-christ. I think it's safe to say that we've all said something in the heat of the moment that once we calmed down, we thought better of & wished we hadn't said it. The fact that John has come back (after calming down) and posted an apology and his reasoning for getting upset to begin with, says a lot about the kind of person he really is. I know a TON of people that never would apologize, even after being proven wrong.

Fans and players alike are very passionate about the game and the status of the game at the pro level. Good or bad, right or wrong, its good to see the passion in everyone. As long as there's passion, there's concern, which is always a good thing.

I don't ever recall having done this on the forum before and if I get a warning then so be it. Bernie, you're an idiot.

Hold on there Bernie. You just stepped way over the line. Japan has never produced a 69 RS/Z28 or a 91 K3500 Diesel Crew Cab Dually.

You got the Ford part right, though...

My personal preference is the '68 RS/SS Camaro or a '72 SS Red Chevelle. ;)

That's one of the nastiest things I have heard here... What do you possiblly mean, that you would like tours like Viking, KBP, McDermott to fail? Is this your thought process? These poeple have established their venues and worked very hard at making them what they are. Who are YOU to make such a statement?

There are too many things that are ridiculous in this post for me to even know where to start. At least you got the last sentence right. And that's not an 'if'. It's just a 'when'. You've been given a great opportunity that, for someone who plays your speed, might never come in a lifetime. You should just be happy with that instead of critisizing the hard work that everyone else has put into pool. Pool hasn't failed because everyone sucks and Keven Trudeau is great. Before Keven Trudeau, no one has shown up with this much money and has been willing to throw it into pool. So the rest of the promoters, without millions of dollars to back them up, have worked their asses off to provide the tournaments that they could. Just because you, without any playing credentials, have gotten into the IPT doesn't give you the right to bad mouth what others who have put far more into pool than you ever will have tried to do for the game.

Have fun with your 6 tournaments this year.
