Hey Vagabond,

I had a player do the same thing to me once! As the cueball amazingly did not fall in the pocket, the player immediately began to play his next shot. I stood up, walked over and picked the cue ball up during his back stroke. I told him to sit down and I took ball in hand and ran out. He never said a word. That was the last time we played despite his constant pestering.

Rules are meant to be adhered to. Not broken to see if the other player knows them. That's cheating, plain and simple.

Andy

You guys are being a little ridiculous. I know Pablo pretty well. I've played him many times in tournaments. The guy is not the guy you guys are making him out to be. Okay, so he stuck his hand in the pocket (if that's what really happened). I believe him when he says that if he knew he fouled he would have given the guy ball in hand. Why try to make a guy look bad? Honest mistakes happen. Why not tell the guy he fouled and then let him show his true character instead of just sitting there quietly and assuming that he purposely cheated you? You guys are out of line.

Anyway, that's all I have to say, so don't bother trying to get me into a little flame war. :)

Jimmy,

I don't want to "flame" you but you're saying I'm "out of line" and trying to end the discusison. How is it out of line to be annoyed that a pro level player does not know the rules? There are many "passive" players such as myself that don't want the confrontation of telling a player that it is a foul. We tend to play worse when there is controversy.

It sounds like you don't know the rule either. The foul occurred when the player (if it happened in Pablo's case) put his hand in the pocket. It makes no difference if the cue ball was touched or not.

I was relating a story that happened to me. I don't know Pablo and don't know what happened with Pablo and don't care. I'm not trying to make him out to be anything. My post was about the description of what transpired, not about any particular player.

I know the rules. How does it sound like I don't know the rules? I'm saying that, assuming someone is cheating you without giving them the benefit of the doubt isn't being fair to them - unless, of course, they're a known cheater (in that case, I probably wouldn't give them the benefit of the doubt either). In this case, Pablo isn't. Vagabond is out of line for accusing him of being one and your post was some sort of agreeance post where you said, "yeah, the same thing happened to me", as if it were a fact that Pablo cheated and your opponent did the same to you. Honestly, I don't care what your opponent did to you. You didn't say his name in a thread that was designed to congratulate him on a win, so that's cool. All I'm saying is, if someone is going to get on here and say that so-and-so cheated them, at least it should be a fact before they go and post it.

Pablo is an old friend of mine. Hes a gentleman pool player. He plays well enough to win by the rules.

If you cant beat him , dont whine.

Now that's the kind of replies I had in mind when I started this thread. All the other bull$hit is stupid. If a guy sticks his hand in the pocket against me, I'm TAKING ball in hand. If I didn't, I sure wouldn't bring it out 10 years later in a forum. Unreal! Peace, John.

Uhh, okay. Whatever you say. :)

Cheers,

JIMMY MENDOZA <-- so you know who is talking to you.

By the way, mess with you how? Are you asking me to play? Who are you? I mean, seriously. You have this "shroud of secrecy" thing going on, but no one cares who you are, bro. Every one else uses their names or we know who they are anyway. It isn't a big deal. If you work for the NSA and you're on a secret mission to accuse pool players of cheating, I'll understand and respect your secrecy. However, I'd like to at least know who I'm going to play and how we're going to play if it isn't an even match up. I promise I wont reach into the pocket, too. In fact, we can make a rule that if anyone does it, the incoming player gets to break the shooters hand with a mallot. :D

Hi Jimmy,
I like your humor besides your ability to play good 9 Ball.

I'm happy you could see my humor. I was actually laughing a little when I wrote it.

Being that you're probably a one pocket specialist, and I'm far from it, there would definitely be some sort of matching up required for us to ever play that game. :)

Jimmy,
I am not a specialist in anything. In one eye I am legally blind. I have been strugling to learn one pocket.I do not usually play for money. On occasions I did play for the money.Last time I played 9 Ball for money ( even game)was 10 years ago against one of the past USOpen champions and I lost it.
Cheers for the offer,Jimmy

Will you play me some one hole?

I'll make you a deal: If I stick my hand in the pocket without permission, you win the game. :D

Pablo

While I don't know him personally I've been around the Pensacola area many times over the years and always viewed Pablo as a very nice, capable pool player who is well liked by most !
