Phil Spudich, the owner of Billiards of Springfield in Springfield, Missouri and former owner of Columbia Billiards in Columbia, Missouri, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015. I heard the news a few days ago. Phil was a stand up guy and the mastermind behind one of my favorite tournaments off all time the Missouri State Amateur 9 ball tournament. Phil would always go the players meeting for the tournament and every year would demonstrate the rule for a push shot. The cueball had to decelerate. If it sped up after contact it was a foul. RIP Phil and my condolences to his family.
