Should AZB require Club Membership for all members??

With all the hubabaloo regarding the lurkers, new members, trolls, etc. I wonder how many would like to see AZB a pay site only.

I don't mind paying the $25 membership fee annually.

FREE to look, PAY to post.

It would kill traffic, hits, ad income, etc., as 80% of all forums are free for basic privileges.

BTW - FIRST! ;) well, ok, SECOND

Soooo....making AZB a pay site would not guarantee that the miscreants would stay away....they'll just pay.

Here's a thought...why not try something totally new and unique to some...using some good ol' fashioned common sense. As has been throughout time...caveat emptor! Do your due diligence and research who you are dealing with and that item which you are pondering purchasing.

There is a wealth of people here with information and experience...just ask.

Lisa ===> throwing money at a problem does not necessarily fix said problem.

Gosh, Kentucky, I dunno - your eyes are pretty darn sexy!! :p
Gonna have to change your avatar pic!

Seriously, who determines what's "sexist" or "demeaning"?
PG-13 allows a string bikini leaving nothing to the imagination, yet it's certainly "sexy" (or can be).

Nothing Rated X, of course. But beyond that, enough of the nanny state censorship.

JMO,

Would that mean we could ban sexist or demeaning sexual avatars?

I have stated previously that I believe those that avail themselves of the collective knowledge and wisdom here on this forum should feel a moral obligation to purchase a membership. However, I do not like the idea of a mandatory purchase. There are many that come here initially to discuss a common passion with others of like minds. Then they discover what a true treasure trove they have stumbled upon. I think we would possibly lose a number of folks that potentially would add to our collective wisdom by demanding an up front fee. I still maintain after anyone has visited this site and benefited from it to any degree, should realize they have some obligation to insure it's continued existence by some monetary contribution....Dan

And, what about those of us who have been here forever, who have been contributing to and have helped to build this site to what it is now? Back when I first joined this site was still small enough that most of the main contributors were known to all. You gonna 'grandfather' them in?

A moral obligation is by default, dependent upon ones sense of duty to a cause. If you feel you have done what is necessary to support and maintain this site......then I suppose you have met "your" moral obligation.

Sure, as long as you personally make up the standards and definitions of "sexist" and "demeaning" for this forum. I will leave that in your more than capable hands.

What would happen if all of us had to "post" under our real names?
randyg

I don't think that would help Randy. Too easy to make a false name unless the mods had some way to verify it. Even then, I still think the trolls would show up.

Moral obligation?! You're kidding me, right? When I need help with my moral compass, I'll let you.

Agree. At least we would be on a first name calling basis.....:-)

Anonymity always speaks loud and strong.....randyg
