I got lucky and found this cue for a good price and it is straight as an arrow with two scruggs shafts one is original. It has a few wear uses but overall great condition for the age. I looked for pages of history and only saw one TS cue like this (Sneaky with wrap and wood to wood/ standard butt. Hits SOLID, definitely something different than anything I have ever hit with. Ultra feedback and stiff, but feels great.

I know many of you are scruggs experts. What do you think this cue is worth? Any info on this cue would be great thanks everyone.

Stephen

The cue should fetch $700 to $900.......$950 maybe but I do not see this cue cracking a grand as its selling price, especially with this market and the number of other sneaky TS cues around......there's zero collection value for any SP cue IMO and the only way to command a higher price is to offer a cue that has 2 original straight shafts, not 1, and ivory ferrules and I've even seen ivory joint SP cues from Tim Scruggs......those cues command a higher than average price.

p.s. Stephen, look for Nick Serdula's opinion.....he's a Scruggs expert.......by the way, I've seen a couple of SP cues from Tim that had linen wraps.

That sounds great - thank you for your input- much appreciated.
If anyone knows of similar cue that has sold before or any information regarding this cue's price or history I would like to know. Seems like t here is a huge stigma about these cues and I have read a lot of positive/best hit type comments about these cues.

Any Tim Scruggs "Expert" please chime in- thanks

Indeed the hit is firm, solid, and good. I to me it is like directly touching the cue ball the feedback is that sensitive. A standard Scruggs sneaky Pete in good condition with one shaft goes on average 450-550$, extra shafts are 100-125 more. They are the best sneaky petes made and closest to them would be the ones made by Bob Frey who now is the authorized cue builder to repair Scruggs cues.

Your cue looks like a good find and probably that wrap was put on later.

600-700 is a good price for this. I just paid less than a grand for one with 2 shafts, dressy rings in all positions, and an ivory joint.

I am not sure both shafts were made by Scruggs. Also, the wrap was not necessarily original. I have put wraps on a few Scruggs SP over the years.

Ts cue

The cue and both shafts are straight as an arrow- no taper roll or any lift of any kind. I was very surprised I thought for the price I paid- that it had to be warped. There is absolutely zero roll on either butt or shafts. The one shaft is paired with this cue originally, and the other shaft is a TS shaft from a different sneaky pete cue. The owner had 6 total in his/his dad's collection and this was the last of them.

The person he bought it from was the original owner and that the wrap was original. I found it different, but great that the wrap extends almost to the butt- most wraps end too early for my long arms and i hold half wrap/ half butt.

I searched the forums and search engines and literally only found one TS cue that looks like this one. I did however newer ones with the white delrin butt cap as pictured above, but nothing with wrap like this and wood/wood and old style butt.

Where should I send the butt and two shafts to get refinished? I read here that proficient billiards is the best place and best price? Im just stoked to have found this gem and that it is in great condition. Thank you everyone for your input- I do appreciate this forum for this type of advice/information.

I would DEFINITELY suggest Bob Frey to do the refinish! He is the only authorized Scruggs repair. If it means much to you to retail "value", that would be the way to go. Similar to Tasc doing the Bushka restores, etc...

Scruggs refinish

I read on the forum that people were happy with the job the guy did from proficient billiards; I need to keep cost to a minimum now so trying to find the best guy to do the job without spending more than around 100 or so.

- I am most likely going to be keeping the cue even if I don't use as my player. It feels different and will an entire switch from my diveney. I might make the switch because the Scruggs gives more direct feedback than any other cue I've used. It feels more like a one piece cue in a good way.

After cleaning the wrap, sealing the shafts, refinishing including both shafts, and shipping, your bill with him will be like 160.

Save your pennies for it, it's worth that much all day.

Just food for thought. Scruggs didn't do the same finish on the SP's that was on other cues. If you send it off and get one of those high gloss heavy auto finishes, it will look nice but not be like original. It will really look different from original. Just something to think about.
