Record cue ball break speed

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me (with proof) what the record speed is for a cue ball while breaking. The only reason I ask for proof is because I'm in a debate with a buddy of mine about the fastest speed of a cue ball on the break.

Im not sure of the record but i have hit 89 several times...:D

Charlie Bryant hit 34.7 with an X-Breaker, model X-347 in honor of his break.
Don't know if that's a record or not, but I've never heard of higher.
:p

Thanks guys. I swear I have read on the forum SOMEWHERE it was around 33-34mph. He says it is in the mid 20's, around 23-24 and I want to bet him but he wants proof, lol.

If you want proof, pm your phone number. I will send you a phone pic with the break speed app where I broke 31mph.

A record of 23-24 is ridiculous. I know many people who's regular break is above that without full effort.

My best break speed that I can hit consistently is 26-27. Using the Droid app. Don't know how accurate that app is though.

Fastest break speed I've heard of was George Breedlove 38 mph. It was witnessed by a couple of BCA instructors.

there's a kid around here, that did 33mph measured with a radar gun.

high speed is easy, keeping it on the table however...

The app is actually more accurate than a radar gun as long as the ambient noise isn't a factor...

At the Masters 10ball I was using it to check out the players on the the TV table or the ones close enough to it to get clean samples.... The average break speed for the Open level pros was right at 24... SVB was hitting them around 25.1 every time he broke....

At the open this year once again the average was 24... It was rack your own and the slowest I saw was a 20... The highest was actually Darren who was just under 26... I didn't get Nevel clocked and in the past he was higher than that but if I recall he was consistently at 27...

Buste was consistently at 27 the last time I clocked him which was 2-3 years ago at the Open.....

A friend of mine who is a reliable source, told me that he saw Francisco Bustamante break 37 MPH

No offense, The Renfro, but I have an incredibly hard time believing that a little cell phone using some app that "measures" speed through impact sound, heard through that little microphone (one of the many variables that affects the accuracy of this sound), is somehow "more accurate" than a radar gun that measures speed by actual motion.

I know these little apps on cell phones are mighty handy for point-purpose applications (I honestly love the app that teaches you how to figure out patterns to clear balls off the table with a series of only stop shots), but sometimes the exuberance over these little apps leads one to make claims that stretches the limits of reality.

I would love to see the outcome of someone getting a speeding citation from some officer using an "app" on his cell phone that measured the doppler effect of your engine noise going by him, because he/she (the officer) "says" that the app is more accurate than a radar gun that measures actual motion. Would l-o-v-e to see that one go to court!

Break speed app results can be doctored so easy though.

Not saying you didnt do this, I'm not doubting you, but i can prolly give you a break speed result at 50mph.

.....

I imagine that would be true if the app had a way of placing the cue ball in the exact position the player broke from, rather then you dragging the cue ball into the position on the table in the app. I mistake by a millimeter in the app can be inches on the actual table and therefore yield an inaccurate result.
