Pool Hall Junkie
Hi everyone,

New user here, so wanted to first say hello to everyone in the forums.

I'll be flying over to San Francisco for a week and I wanted to ask about the pool scene there. Any good recommendations for pool halls or tournaments? I'll be staying at the Fairmont Hotel so somewhere close to it would be ideal.

Cheers.

Family Billiards on Geary (near Masonic) is the best room in the city. Occasionally there will be a good player there, but not often. Mostly casual players. It is often a little damp in there, but the owner and staff are very nice.

California Billiards in Mountain View has a lot more players but is quite a bit south.

If you like pool halls.

Family Billiards on Geary. 1 block off Masonic.
At least one weekly tourney.
Regular players, regular action. Best Tables.

Billiard Palacade. Mission @ Geneva.
Seedy dive of a pool hall. Weekly tourneys.
There's action there, I like Family's better.

Broken Rack. Across the the Bay in Oakland/Emeryville.
Bar & Grill, 1 snooker table, 1 9' diamond. Around 20 tables total.
There's action there too.

if you like bar box's.

Kilowatt on 16th @ guerrrero.
50 cent tables, long lines. Free on Sundays.
Regulars who play at decent speeds, BCA rules played there.

Gino & Carlo. Green st. in North Beach.
Busy league location.

Happy Lounge. on Geary not far from Family.
Busy league location.

Grandma's Saloon. on Taraval.
Busy league location.

All are cue friendly bars.

Have Fun.
