I watched some of her play in the Vegas tournament, looks like she is using a wood shaft now and shooting great with it.
She was using a Revo for at least the past few years. I don't know if it's a 314 or Vantage, but she seems to like it!
Nice to see yet another young star realize that wood shafts give better feedback.
Back-to-back Vegas champ, 22 year old Wiktor Zielinski, has always enjoyed his wood 314 wood shaft-- he shoots like the game is almost too easy for him!
I guarantee you that if it weren't for sponsorship money, the vast majority of touring pros would use wood shafts.
Again, to each his own in the cf/wood shaft debate: You think cf is better for you-- use cf.
But for those who still think cf is superior to wood for actually PLAYING POOL, it's not.
Carbon fiber shafts make great break shafts though, that's for sure.

Yay for her I guess. Why does it really matter though, unless you are selling CF production short or something on the stock market and want the stock prices to go down. The top players using CF are still in the same ranking they are with their old shafts. It's like complaining that people eat vegetables as a main meal, who really cares what they do if you are free to do what you want. Now if say some CF users were saying how those that use wood are inferior or making a mistake or are silly, I can see why that would be annoying. Say.. similar to these posts about how wood shafts are the only thing to use maybe? And putting in a line about "use what you like" does not change the post from being what it is, it's like saying "you know I'm not racist, but those black people are just criminals" LOL

I'm using a CF shaft, and I've found very minimal difference between wood and CF playing wise.

The shafts that i have are perfect to each other in every way that i can measure it. I've never had wood shafts perfectly matching and I've given a shaft to a guy and said match this in 25 years.

They don't get dings in them. I use to get a ding in my wood shaft weekly and i got very good at removing them.

If I had to guess, the pros who use cf are either paid to use it or don't much care either way.
I may be way off base but I don't care to argue.
I switched because a yokel accidentally damaged one of my customs at the pool hall and I decided to no longer put
a good cue at risk. I care much less if someone knocks a chinese, soulless cue to the ground -plus it's harder to damage.
I miss being able to jump full-cue though.

i feel the same way ... then realized if im not using those nice cues ... why even buy them

a meucci (**Any Manufacturer) or a plain sneaky pete cue will push a white ball around as good as anything else.

I feel like in the early 2000s there was still a long list of players using standard deflection shafts and now most players are using some form of LD whether they are sponsored or not. Same with gloves, I think there are more players using a glow now than not but they were less common 20 years ago.

There is almost a 1/4 ball difference in deflection across 6 feet of travel between any 314 and the Revo and the Z3, about 1/8th or a bit more deflection difference from Z3 to the Revo. Enough to miss without changing the aiming at almost any distance.

In ten years you are still going to see the kids using wood shafts. Until the pricing comes way down on CF shafts. Everyone is still going to start out using wood.

The only people buying CF shafts are serious players. How many bangers on this site do you see saying $200 cues are expensive? I've got a few Revo's that cost more then most people's players.

Friend of mine that I play with every week plays with a $40 Wal-Mart cue and shoots lights out with it. He very seldom misses a ball and he is in his late 60's

Correct. I came to that realization about 5 years ago. I went back to standard maple, masters, triangle, no glove, most basic Joss cue. They laughed at me and said I was going backwards. Was actually the best pool decision I ever made.

Revo or Z3 deflects more?

I use Mezz shafts. Of the three, the carbon fiber Ignite deflects the most of the three, the EXPro slightly less, and the WX900 deflects the least of the three - considerably less than the Ignite.
