This is what BallStream scoreboards can look like during an event. The one on the left is Mac OSX using the online scoreboard sending scores online for public display and video overlay. The one on the right is a laptop running the Matchplay software (Windows) that also sends scores online for public display and video overlay.
At our club a setback with playing finals on table 2 has always been that no-one can see the scoreboard on the far wall, as you can see in the photo. But playing finals on table 1 is worse because the scoreboard for that table faces away from the audience. The scoreboard displays that you see here can be seen from anywhere in the audience area.
Using a remote number pad the referee can update the scoreboard from anywhere around the table. The same data can be used for video overlay.
