Just wondering what you guys prefer to use on the butt to seal the pores before spraying your clear finish.

Do you use different products for more porous woods?

Most of us, use a wood sealer made to seal furniture, long before we prep the cue for paint.. As far as the wood and open pores goes, some use a thin coat of epoxy glue, or sometimes a cuemaker will use "super/glue" as a filler, to seal the weep holes. However, it's best to just use finish. The glue is a short cut, but while sanding and you sand through the clear-coat and hit the finish, you got to remove all the finish and glue and start over. But the "paint only" is the best finish. Spray on a tack coat, let it set up real good, then apply a heavy coat and work from there. You might need to put as many as 8 to 10 coats over all. But be sure to let the cue, set up for a few extra days just after the first heavy coat.
