Sharivari's take on aiming systems

I watched this video the other day. It's the only video he's done that I didn't give a thumbs up.

He says he learned using ghostball, but now he just aligns his body to the shot, not really "aiming" at any particular target. Lol. This is how most good players describe their aiming method, and it's not much help for inexperienced or struggling players.

Yeah, the ghost ball is for a rank beginner that can’t even hold a cue. Just to instill in them the concept of about where to aim.

Its so funny the ratio of aiming system players to feel players might be 1000 to 1. In 25 plus years of being a pool hall junkie I’ve maybe heard in-person discussions of aiming systems 2 or 3 times. But on this forum, it’s the dominant topic.

I knew a late world class straight pool player ( Wayne Norcross ) who was running 100+ balls in his 70's who used the ghost ball exclusively .
He said it's the only system they used back in the days . He played in the Stardust World 14-1 Championship.
And he toured as Mosconi's sparring partner for sometime .

Well after all, this is called the "Aiming Forum".
What would you expect?
Kinda' like walking into a tire/brake/alignment shop and asking...."you got any lawn chairs?"

The only conversation I have ever had outside of this forum regarding aiming was with a glorified banger who told me that he used the reflection of the overhead light to aim his shots. Note, this was snooker and not pool.

When I pointed out that his system would be dependant on the height, placement and number of lights, so it would be different form table to table. He barked at me, calling me a college kid know it all...lol.

This forum is an odd place. The biggest struggle is trying to determine what 'level' of answer one should provide.

I meant in all of AZB forums over the past almost 20 years. This subforum was just a way to reduce the arguments.

True. But aiming system players typically become feel players.

You can't say that. I had a conversation with Ralf Souquet the other day, discussing about this topic. He also uses the ghost ball on certain shots. However, I wouldn't call him a beginner.

Ouch!
And if you ask Efren and Bustamante how to shoot a shot , they'd tell you the cue ball goes here .

What did you expect him to say?
He knows there is no such thing as an invisible ball down there. But to pacify you, he repeats the same old jargon that has been parroted for decades.
He might use fractions and probably does, but he isn't using anything called a "ghost ball" because no such thing exists.
There is no such thing as an "invisible ghost ball"...……...that's all in the mind. That's why it is imaginary and guesswork.
I prefer a NO IMAGINATION shot line.

Feijen and Morris also teach the ghost ball method.
Amazing.
Next, the certified twitching embalmers are going to deny the tangent line.
