Does all simonis felt say "simonis" on it? I just ordered simonis 860 from some local dealer... and it came in and just doesnt look right.....

I have never seen a cut of simonis that does not say Iwan Simonis on the face side edge and the type of cloth on the other face side edge (Simonis 860..etc.) There are alot of knockoffs these days.

I've been cheated!

Thanks for the reply.
  Well... the invoice says "simonis 860" but the plastic bag it came in says "14-360 TFL 3.2"

Any idea what that means?

That is Imperial "Eliminator" worsted cloth with teflon. The 14-360 is the stock number for green. Ok cloth..but not anywhere near Simonis.

Did you order if off ebay? I ordered some championship once and they sent me some $30 cloth for $130. Took me over a month to get the right cloth from them. They said they pulled it wrong and then they said it was lost in shipping. Most people won't be able to tell the difference unless they compare the cloth side by side. You will be able to tell the difference once its installed. But then it will be too late.

If you can't see the grain clearly with no fuzz whatsoever then it isn't simonis.

I see there is also some cloth that looks just like Simonis called Sterling. Championship Tour Edition and Gorina are way faster and smoother than Simonis.

Here is what Simonis should look like.

I actually ordered the felt off of a guy in Phoenix, AZ. This guy claims to be an expert and says he has "15 years of experience". I wonder what that experience is in!!!

I am not going to post his name right now because I am going to give him a chance to make it right.

Thanks again for all the help guys!

Worse case scenario is that you take him to small claims court if he doesn't make good on this deal. I think you would have a good case considering you didn't get what you wanted and hopefully you never agreed to recieve anything of "equal or lesser value" if he was out of stock.

Its a classic "Bait and Switch" tactic... Any prosecutor will be on your side if you choose to go that route. I think if you talk to him and explain what is going on he'll make it right...

Cost Diff?

Just wondering.... How much was this guy cheating me out of? What is the cost difference between Simonis 860 and Imperial "Eliminator" worsted cloth?

-Back2good1

I dont have a catalog off hand but honestly probably not much at all. I figure $200 for 9' Simonis and the Imperial probablly retails for $150 maybe even $200 (guess) I just don't like much from Imperial.

Well, I spoke to Dave Clayton today and he is scheduled to felt and assemble my table later this month! I have not decided what I am going to do about the first "installer". As usual, he has not answered my calls.

Do you guys normally post "buyer beware" type posts on AZ forums? I know he advertises on craigslist.com... and I am going to post a "buyer beware" add there for sure!

Anyway, thanks for all the help guys. If you are ever in Phoenix.. drop me a PM and you can come over and hit some with me!

I would definitely post a thread about his actions. The main forum or possibly the for sale/wanted section...

I have a cousin in Phoenix and plan to be in NM working on a table for a buddy of mine. I am planning on visiting her while I'm on that side of the country. I'll definitely hit you up.

Good luck with everything

thats the downside from buying off the net. I learned the hard way when i bought a north face parka for my girlfriend. She snagged it on a fence and i sent it to north face to have it fixed only to find out its a counterfeit jacket. Northface stickers, tag, patches sewed on.......but its fake. I got a great deal on it and now i know why lol. I contacted the seller 9 a year after i bought it) and told him about it and got a partial refund supposedly on the way. Thats one thing about ebay, he knew i could blast his rating and cost him sales so he was more inclined to work with me.

Simonis is around $50.00 a yard and Imperial Eliminator cloth is $26.00 a yard. But the Simonis is 78 inches wide compared to the 66 inches of Imperial. What that means is less yardage with Simonis because you can get rail cuts from the side overhang. I would ask for the Simonis cloth if I were you. I work with both cloths and find Simonis to be easier to work with and is a heavier cloth. Best of luck with everything.

Scam revealed

The really bad part was this was not and ebay or online transaction. He had contacted the guy I got the table from and offered to move it when he found a buyer. It has been 4 days since he had one of his helpers drop off the rails and cloth and he has yet to answer any of my phone calls. And I call at least 3 times a day to try and reach him.

His name is Frank Z and he works under the business name "Trickshot Billiards" in Phoenix, AZ.

Not only did this guy try and pass off this imperial cloth as Simonis... but he has yet to even try and compete the job. Essentially the only thing he has done is move the table from one place to another. It is sitting in my pool room right now unassembled. It has been sitting in that condition for over a month.

Word of advice... don't do business with Frank Z!

Again, a big thanks to all of you for the help on this matter. I will also be making a post in the main forum.

Simonis 360???

Anyone ever heard of "high end" "top of the line" Simonis 360?

I googled it... but no luck.

thanks.

No... he said he got me Simonis 360.... which according to him is "top of the line" Simonis cloth. First of all it is NOT what I ordered.... and second... I have never heard of it! I just thought maybe one of you guys had heard of it.

-geez...

The only cloth Simonis makes, is 860, 760, 300, and 4000 which is a snooker cloth. Take this for what it's worth.
