Slightly funny video

So MTV is playing Clutch? I'll have to check the video out when I'm at a computer with a high speed conection.

While we are on the subject does anyone know of any songs written purely about pool?

Jimmy Buffett, Ani Difranco, and Sublime all have songs that reference pool, but I don't recall anyone with a song totally about pool. Who esle as referneced pool in their songs/videos?

I suppose the song "subtle hustle "could be considered about pool, or card playing(seems to be pool.) It is found on the same player site as the music video by CLUTCH. It is on the Blast Tyrant album. Here are the lyrics and link to song 2/3 on the top of the flash window at.http://www.hyfntrak.com/clutch/AFF2434/

Subtle Hustle

Back again with a quickness, pick it up, pick it up.
Master arithmeticness, light it up, light it up.
I got the heat in both feets, snake handler's hands.
Come back with slickness and do it all again.

My subtle hustle, smooth as mother's butter.
I let it ride on, I let it ride on.

Now I'm the media's darling, pick it up, pick it up.
An international phenomenon, light it up, light it up.
I cause eclipses with a wave of the hand.
Let them hang in ellipses and do it all again.

My subtle hustle, smooth as mother's butter.
I let it ride on, I let it ride on.

I got your number. I steal your thunder.
I got your mother's maiden name tattooed on my arm.

I drive out daemons. Can I hear an Amen?
Now say my name.
Lay hands on screaming heathens. And do it all again.

My subtle hustle, smooth as mother's butter.
I let it ride on, I let it ride on.

Johnny Lang's "Rack'em up" is primarily about pool and a pool hall (Jacks Pool Hall).
Thats the only one I can tink of thats just about pool or a pool room.

bethesilentone- Is that the song that the video is for? It does sound like they could be talking about pool with the lyrics.

frankincali- I'm not familiar with Johnny Lang. I looked up his lyrics to that song and it sounds like it could be decent stuff. I'm diffenitly gonna have to hear it. He's bluesy right?

Rod Stewart did in Maggie May when he said that he was going to steal his daddies cue and make a livin' out of playin' pool.

Coolest band ever! I think the bar that the video was shot in is where Bluewolf will be playing in when she gets situated in Fredneck, MD!! No wonder she needs a table!!

And a side note, George Thorogood's Bad to the Bone video is all about pool. George takes the $ in an 8-ball match. Opponent is Bo Diddley (blues guitar hero) and his backer is Willie Mosconi.

no the song on the video is "mob goes wild" when you open the link the song will auto play in the window. Up top to the right is a play track button skip to track 2/3 subtle hustle.

The guys in the video are from T.V show Jackass. The van driver is on the show, and the guy getting beat up is Ryan Dunn I think. CLUTCH is a really good rock band.

landshark77, The song 'Rack 'em up' is on Jonny's first album 'Lie to Me' (recorded when he was 16, I think) which is primarily blues oriented and it is pretty nice song about a regular that lives for pool in a particular pool room (as mentioned, Jack's).

His music continued to be blues-oriented through his second CD 'Wander This World'. There is no clear reference to pool on this one though. His third and most recent third CD 'Long Time Coming' moves him more into a rock-oriented theme. Again, no clear reference to pool. Jonny is a fine artist and is very much a perfectionist.

Hope this helps, Jerry

bethesilentone- yes Clutch is difinately a decent band. I believe the songs you are refering to are on their newest album...which I listened to at the record store a few weeks ago. I must admit that I didn't pay total attention to the lyrics, dang 30 second song samplers.

Pidlet and bethesilentone- no doubt that where ever they are shooting that video it is near the DC, MD, PA, WV, VA area, as that is where Clutch and the boys from Jackass are from.

Piglet- I never made the Bad to the Bone reference to pool.
The same with Maggie Mae, lunchmoney. I need to pay better attention. I knew you guys could help me out.

Thanx for the Johnny Lang intro jkjerry and frankincali.

Just bought the cd-thanks for the heads-up! It is awesome.
Once again, I have all their cds!!

I wondered how long it would take Lang to move a little farther from the blues to a more rock oriented sound. Its got to be for the money. I talked
with a few people that know him or knew him and he was all blues but
the money was not their. He has the respect of BB and other great blues guys as well as great guitar guys which was usual for someone his age when
he came out. I like all his stuff and the newer blues scene is better than
the old time original blues to me. I wonder what happened to Kenny
Wayne Shepard. Same type sound.

I was surprised I like the songs I heard on the Clutch sight. The acoustic
song has a good sound to it.
BTW----Lang does or did like to shoot a little pool.

Yes the new CLUTCH album, Blast Tyrant TOTALY ROCKS!

I thought of another pool song is by Bob Segar Down on Main Street where he says"the pool halls ,the hustlers ,the losers... you know it.
