Eddy Merckx: 1-15-4-6-4-3-3-4. 40 points in eight innings. Another game that Bert can add to his list.

Thai is leading 35-23 after his 17th inning, but Jaspers scores 17 points in his last five innings to win 40-37.
Mikael DeVogelaere is not a household name in the World 3-Cushion community but Kozoom has tournament records for the 41-year old Frenchman going back 24 years He played other disciplines such as Free Game, Balk Line 47/2, and 1-Cushion. However, he has played in nine World Cups, albeit, without much success. This was DeVogelaere’s first 3-Cushion World Championship. He was playing very well, advancing from the Prelims to the knockout stage. In his first match he beats Jun Tae Kim, averaging 1.724. His next match was against Eddy Merckx. This match started at Midnight in NY and I wanted to watch it. Merckx built up a big lead and I lost interest and started watching something else. Little did I know what was to transpire. When DeVogelaere was down 20-5 he walked up to the table and ran 18. This was the high run of the tournament. No flukes. Many very difficult shots. Merckx wound up winning 50-39, averaging 2.777 to the Frenchman’s 2.294. Don’t know what DeVogelaere’s future 3C plans are but I will certainly remember the name.
