Think about this - If he was any good at announcing - why wouldn't he land a real media job. Alan Hopkins is good but no one can be very good with that idiot. THEY HAVE TO STOP TRYING TO IMPRESS THE AUDIENCE WITH THEIR VOCABULARY THAT THEY ARE USING OUT OF CONTEXT. IT IS AN INSULT.
Our sport deserves a knowledgeable announcer. I have mentioned plenty available in the past and I hope you all agree.

Apparently he's set pretty well financially. Maybe he's just doing what he wants to do.

I think he does a great job of sounding like a complete pool idiot. Just what all us complete pool idiots need in an announcer. Mitch Laurance must have some kind of pool background to get the announcer's job in the first place. One wouldn't have to look very far to find a superior replacement. I don't remember who did the World Summit last year from Grand Central, but it sure was refreshing not to have Mitch. I wonder how Allen and Dawn would be together. Seems like Mitch pretty much always has them as co-announcers. What's funny to me is that he announced with Ewa at least once that I remember and you would have never known that they were married or even really knew each other if you weren't "in the know". He still sounded like an idiot. If I was Ewa, I would have been slapping him for some of the questions he was asking.
I worked with a guy for years and one day another coworker mentioned to me “doesn’t it drive you nuts the way he always snaps his gum?”. Well I really had never noticed he did that at all much less be annoyed by it. But after the comment I certainly did and was.

I don't think he necessarily needs to know a lot about pool. He's supposed to be the facilitator in the booth and let the color person espouse all that knowledge stuff. He should just facilitate and shed a little light on some of the behind-the-scenes stuff and let the color person talk about the pool-related stuff.
