Someone got a hell of a deal...

I'm not a big fan of turquoise but it does appear to be considerably lower than most Phillipi's that I see on eBay!

great deal!!

but i heard somewhere that phillippi cues don't have a good secondary market.

My friend was talking with a cue dealer at the DCC about possibly selling his cue collection. He has a Szamboti, several Joss west and several other collectables. He also has a couple of High dollar Phillippi's. The dealer was interested in everything but the Phillippi's. Says that he can't move them.

even better deal

A guy on ebay auctioned off his late uncles original Balabushka on ebay. There was no reserve and it was a one day auction. It sold for $2000 and change. The only reason I know about it, is because a friend of mine bid on it. He thought he was going to steal it for $1500. I wish I had the link or the item number to give you guys.

Do you really think that deal went through? There was no reserve.

Yup! I emailed the seller, and he is doing this on consignment for a friend of his. The seller is in posession and is handling everything for the guy.

From what was said, I think the owner had to dump it due to rough times...

Well I would guess he doesn't enforce a minimal deduction %. You cannot be a cuemaker that sells to friends at 50% off and allow them to make 10%. It falsly manipulates that secondary market. A few years ago this happened to McDaniel and it took him a while to recover. Throw in the fact that alot of people feel he "tributes" too many designs... and kerplunk.
